Fixing Health Insurance - One Step Program

If we want to fix the healthcare insurance crisis, here is one easy step: Shoot all the actuaries. O.K. that's a bit extreme. wink However, we shouldn't allow insurance companies to group customers or charge customers based on their age. Oh sure, people might whine, "Why should young people subsidize the old?" However, with luck, everyone gets old eventually. People don't generally opt out of getting old. You can't adopt a new habit and not get old. Everyone should be in the same pool together--with perhaps a few behavior-based adjustments. Smokers, Motorcyclists, and Skydivers might pay a bit more. That way the risks are spread across everyone. You shouldn't be totally screwed because you got a disease, your parents got a disease, you have a baby, or you get old. That's ridiculous.

Sound like single payer to me, the one that the Dems and Obama stupidly took off the table before negotiations even began on the health care bill. Stupid because you don't concede anything before debate begins.

What a game!

Michigan football games are a lot of fun, and it was the first ever night game at Michigan Stadium to boot. Even so, I had a lot of fun watching it on the TV, woke my wife sleeping on the couch three times in the last 1:12. grin

Colorado Color

Nice, Jim. I haven't spent a fall in the Colorado mountains since 1982.
I was in Colorado last week while at Oki-Tex and we hiked Picture Canyon.
Not much color there. :S

I'm enjoying it. I only watched half of last nights episode due to the Tigers-Yankee game.

Aurora visible tonight

Posted By Jim Moscheck

Hi Maurice, I was out at a local observing spot in south Michigan. It did indeed start as a slight brightening in the north and spread out almost to the zenith over 45 minutes time. I had my camera, but not the tripod. I used my observing chair at it highest setting to support my camera and used my red flashlight as a prop to point it higher in the sky.

Some folks here are very persistent and repost daily. I sure hope that one guy finds the eyepieces he's seeking since forever. I almost feel sorry for him. wink
