First light with my SAC4-II camera

Posted By Paul Maxson

I have to say that I am surprised how well this turned out for a first light image and a total novice at the controls...now I have another toy to play with!! grin

It is a stack of 173 out of 250 images, processed in Registax 2. Shot with my ED100 at F/23.5 last night (1/30/05).

ATK-1HS camera

Posted By Paul Maxson

There are a few folks (David Tyler, Damian Peach) that use this camera. I am wondering how it compares to the Toucam? I know it is a monochrome cam, but seems to do RGB quite nicely. I'm really curious about it's ease of use, compared to the Toucam as well as sensitivity, etc.

The SAC4-II I bought is pretty complex for my weak mind and I am hoping this camera would be easier to use. Any idea on how the 2C and 2HS compares? I am going to join the Atik group to get feedback there too, but I'm just curious on people's feeling here too.

Thanks!!

Just ordered an Atik

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I'm excited...I just put in an order for the Atik 1HS-II camera. Can't wait to get it and use it! I ordered a Filter holder too. I'm wondering if I should have ordered a couple of extra filter trays so I can swap filters for RGB quickly.

This imaging is really getting more and more addictive every day. grin

Saturn's moons with my ED100

Posted By Paul Maxson

Here is an image of Saturn's moons shot with my ED100. I made 240 one second exposures with my SAC4-II camera. I believe I got 11.7 mag Enceladus which is not bad I think. Once I get the Atik, I want to start trying to image Satellites of other planets like Uranus and Mars...not with the ED100 but something larger.

Sunspot group AR720 first signs of return

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

This was shot on Saturday (I don't have Sunday's images processed yet) of the area that the old huge sunspot AR720 is due to return at. I beleive the spot group will be named 732 and 733...but we'll see. I have heard hints that there actually IS a significant group there...must be as we are expected to be clouded out for the next few days... grin

Anyway, here is Saturday's shot as well as AR730.

AR720's comeback image from Sunday

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Here is the image of returning spot AR720 (now named 731-732) I shot on Sunday Feb 6. The weatherpeople are still predicting lots of rain for us starting Thursday evening. It's getting so that Phoenix isn't looking like a desert city right now... grin

Wedges

Posted By Paul Maxson

Does anyone have experience with the Milburn wedges? I'm thinking of getting a wedge for my C925 and I know the one from Celestron is pretty lightweight. I have heard that the APT wedges are excellent and I see that Anacortes carries these Milburn wedges which are a bit less expensive than the APT wedge.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!
