Mockingbird

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Jeff:

When we lived in Sun City West we had a pet (of sorts) mockingbird.

All you need to get them to come with a whistle is grapes!

They LOVE grapes. Cut them in half and it makes it easier for the birds.

Second Civil WAR

Bill:

I'm 72 and with a little luck I might be good for 15-20 years. My hope is that this thing holds together till I check out.

Frankly, I doubt it.

In looking back the best has past about 35 years ago. Middle 60's to the late 70's we had good times. It was crap before and after!

Orwell was right. He just was off by about 40 years. Instead of 1984 it should have been 2024!

Just think what we could have done. On the moon in 69'. We could have been on Mars and beyond by now. What have we got; nothing! All we have is what we might have done.

You're bleak assessment may well be right. Right back to Kent State!

Yes.. Another Newbie Looking for Advice

Chris:

If you're interested on photography then the C8 is a good choice. Starizona makes a attachment for the Celestron that screws right into where the secondary mirror is and then you can mount a CCD there.

Dean at Starizona displayed it for me a couple of weeks ago and I was pretty impressed.

The larger scopes attachments get a little expensive but the 8" is pretty reasonable. Anacortes might carry the same thing. I'd give them a try first.

What does "Support our troops" mean, really?

Mike:

I also like the signs that say,"These colors never run. Never have, Never will."

I've often wondered how stanch and steadfast these same individuals would be looking down the barrel of an AK-47?

Like you infer, these phrases mean nothing.

Requiem for a lightweight

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Saw a hsuB (Correct pronuncation Huh-Sub) clip today. With that half cocked smile he looked like Cherenkov radiation. Blue, blue blue.

Oh well, when you're a short timer in a cushy-push setup that you don't want to leave, I might be the same way.

Come on now, all together, "BYE BYE HSUB"

Finding CCD chips

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Jim:

I don't know for sure but as an old electronics engineer I would expect that the CCD is already melded into a substrate board. I doubt if you'll find one that's plugged into a socket. I could be wrong on this but with all the bumps that a camera gets I doubt if they would socket the CCD.

If that's the case getting the CCD away from the board and making it useful is highly doubtful. I know I wouldn't try it if I had any investment in it.

Pat Robertson:"Bush Expected No US Casualties in Iraq

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Well it gets down to this:

1. hsuB is lying.
2. Robertson is lying.

And lastly:

3. Who gives a damn. They're both gone in November anyway.

Unless:

4. We have Osama-in-the-box and hsuB pops the lid the week before election.

In that case the American public might be bamboozled and vote him back in.
