A BUSY night...

Posted By Larry Durst

Busy, indeed! They're all terrific, Ivan. Actually, it's your processing that really wows--I'm amazed at what you pull out of images with just 20 minutes, particularly on those fainter nebs. Hope you get a chance to fight the mosquitoes again soon!

Glad to see you up and running...and with a spectacular image, too. You had me scrambling to look this one up. I love that you got that little guy on the upper left, too.
Welcome back,

Eric,
Looks like your guiding is on track to me! Great shot. And I agree with you about the 3.3 FR--it gives an amazing amount of coma, so you'd need a pretty small chip to avoid it I imagine. I use mine now for guiding my LX90 to get more stars.

M11 last night

Floyd,
You definitely seemed to have achieved "round-dom" with your stars! Nice color, too. If you don't mind a comment or two, I'm wondering if you didn't clip your black point a bit (I'm at work, so I'm really guessing). I'm also betting that there's more detail hidden there. If you can try a non-linear or curves stretch, it's a better route to increasing contrast and showing detail than overdarkening. There are some good tutorials out there that really helped me. (You can check our Warren Keller's for a start.)
Hope you don't mind my two cents.
Keep it up,
Larry

Greg,
Glad you got a chance at one of our Northern Mainstays! And what an image: great color, texture and you really got a lot of detail on the lobes.

Auto-Guiding question.

Posted By Larry Durst

Floyd,
Don't have an answer since I use different camera to image and diffent software for it. But you might also try asking over on the Yahoo Stark-Labs group and the DSI group. Both are quite active.

Last night, first long exposures

Floyd,
Well done! It just gets better from here! It really is something when guiding gets going, isn't it? BTW, I have found that software-aided guiding, such as in AstroArt or others, really makes a difference.
Can't wait to see more,
Larry
