It seems funny that when CN was down there were all kinds of posts here on AM but now that it's back up it's dead here.

Well we just got back from having dinner across the street from the White House. The weather here is cloudy with a little rain but tomorrow looks like it's going to be a winner. Caroline ( and my wife & I ) will be at the White House at 7:00 PM to meet the President & First Family. At 8:00pm The President make some remarks and introduce the invited guests and then the fun will begin. Caroline will be pitching Kids in science, and math and when given the opportunity they can accomplish great things ... and the need to preserve our dark skies.

updates tomorrow after the event

We are so proud of Caroline over the last year, she has represented her self, amateur astronomy, and our family in the best of light. we wish you ALL could be here!!

Star Party at The White House

Posted By ROBERT MOORE

WOW!!!! what a blast!!! We did not know that Caroline was going to be put in the spot light like this until it happened. Caroline walked with the First Family for about an hour showed them the Star Lab, and some of the scopes. The President looked at Jupiter, M13 using a 24" Dob and then saw M27,M20,NGC6888 as Dean imaged then from 100' away from the Oval Office. The school Kids were GREAT and asked a lot of questions. Buzz Aldrin, Sally Ride, John Grunsfeld, & Mae Jemison were all on hand for the kids to talk with. We talked with the President, Mrs Obama and the Obama Girls and Caroline gave the girls each a scopes and mounts. I even got to Image NGC 6888, I well be adding that image to the stack of my 30 hour Crescent. Dean got lots of DSO with his set up and I'm sure he will be posting them on his web site. .... Who said you cant do astronomy from DC.
