Trump comments:
"Saudi Arabia has been a great ally. What happened is unacceptable," he said, adding that he would speak with the crown prince."

Appropriate Sanctions

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Now that we know the Saudi's did the 'ol slice and dice, we need to determine which sanctions to impose upon them. Although the fact is the president claims they want to continue to buy billions in arms sales from the US, the truth is they have to because they are bogged down in Yemen where they can't even defeat a bunch of hapless Huoudi rebels with the best systems money can buy and it would take years for the Saudis to come up to speed on inferior Russian and Chinese weapon systems so we have a captive customer on tap. But, we still need their OIL, so what do we do? How about the following sanctions:
1. They agree to take in all of the Syrian refugees including those from Europe and create Syria suburbia 2 in their own backyard.
2. Educational and instructional videos of their public beheadings which are currently only open to the locals. Put the owness  on them and show the world how it's done.
3. Free camel rides for all US travelers.
4. Free fill-ups/oil changes for the first year when you buy any new car to offset the increases produced by Trump's tariffs.
5. Produce "how-to" instructional videos on sanitizing embassies in combination with UV resistant paint.
Well, whadya all think?

I Thought We Already Had A Middle Class Tax Cut

Oh, I see and it worked out so well that it helped pay for the deficit and then some, like Mitch McConnell said it would and who now says it's "disappointing" that it didn't. I didn't claim the middle class didn't get a tax cut as I said it the title of my thread but I do think it was no where near that enjoyed by the corporations which is what I've read throughout it's rise as the nirvana of tax cuts for everyone as promoted as such in previous threads here on this issue. And I'm sure some in the middle class have benefited from it to some extent while others may have not. Looks to me like the GOP is trying to buy their way out of a big defeat in November with some sort of tax scheme. With Paul Ryan working on it, there's probably a good chance he'll do so my trying to make up the effects on the deficit by raiding either medicare or social security under the pretext of  making them more stable. You'd probably but that one, too...

Here is a thought just for you Rod

Ever wonder how the truly awful liberal politicians, you know the ones who blatantly lie every time they speak, call for violence, say one thing and do another types manage to stay in office?

I think it is that their supporters who keep voting them in election after election that love to live vicariously through them. They revel in it. Thats not to imply they are all that type, but even the ones who are not just keep their mouths shut about it. Its a guilty pleasure for those......Which one are you?
I think you need to transpose truly awful liberal politicians and what follows with truly awful conservative ones and then ask yourself the same question. Paul Ryan has a long history of attempting to undermine medicare and social security. But it's no surprise that you're unaware of it.
Personally, if they pass another tax cut, that's fine with me. The government usually pees away the money anyway. But I do care about the deficit and the financial instability that follows it as well as potential impacts on either medicare or social security. I think you should do the same before karma jumps up and bites you on the ass..

There is a verifiable history regarding tax cuts and the deficit.....it takes time for the deficit to turn around and it has done so every time a major tax cut has been implemented but it doesnt happen quickly and it wont this time either.
Greg,
That's bullshit, all the way around.
I'd expect that from someone who said he can't offer up an opinion on Trump's position that the invasion of Iraq was the biggest mistake ever because you didn't know enough about it. I'd expect that from someone who decries Democrats inciting violence when one of 'um says something stupid like kicking them when they're low while at the same time remaining mum when Trump touts a fellow Republican rep for literally body slamming a reporter for asking a question and the crowd behind him roars in approval with mob-like mentality, you're suddenly the expert on finances and ethics...

Turn's out Trump was just fool'n and whatever so-called plan he was peddling won't get off the drawing board until after the election:
https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/22/politics/donald-trump-tax-cut-election/index.html
Think of it as one or more of his phantom insurance plans, like one where you're gonna get some sort of a deal by supposedly buying it across state lines or the one you can get somewhere with the lower premium that doesn't pay for meds, immunizations or cover pre-existing conditions unless you pay more for it. And, while Donald is telling you he's all for covering a pre-existing condition, his administration is actively supporting a court case to eliminate the protection...

I Thought We Already Had A Middle Class Tax Cut

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The GOP is supposedly working on a tax cut for the middle class just prior to the mid term elections. Don't we already have a middle class tax cut? I mean that's how it was presented here in this forum by a a certain conservative or two. Ya mean it really was the big corporations and the millionaires that were benefiting all along and the middle class really didn't? How did that happen? That's what the Democrats have been saying all along. If they're wrong the conservatives on this forum were right, then why do we need another and just before the mid term elections?

Who Trump is, who his core supporters are....a brilliant perspective

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Hmm, that's quite an "outline". Let's fill in some specifics:
1. The author isn't speaking for the majority of the nation, of course, since Trump lost the popular vote even though he advanced a conspiracy theory that millions of illegals and their votes cost him that and he really won the popular vote after all. Even Greg bought that one, hook, line and sinker. Of course, he also disbanded his goofy commission that was supposed to look into all of this since it was obvious his claims were total BS...
2. Talk about more whoppers, you don't have to go deep sea fishing to find them. Trump's lie-athon continues at damn the torpedoes speed and he submerges at a daily average of more than five mackerels per day.
3. But Trump is a jovial sort of a guy. Look at all those heads of state who laughed at him at the UN a few weeks ago. Even Putin likes him.
4. He can be a bit of a back seater driver, though. Calling out Bush for the biggest mistake ever in invading Iraq and destabilizing the middle east. Well, he didn't see the intell at the time and he doesn't believe in any intell now so what does that matter, anyway?
5. So, if he doesn't believe in intell, where does he get his info? We're all relieved to know he gets it from Fox and Friends...

Who Trump is, who his core supporters are....a brilliant perspective

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Let's clarify a few items here, shall we?
First, the article discusses who Trump is and who his supporters are. Remember that Trump promised to surround himself with "the best people" and, in doing so, upped the bar in setting examples for the country. So, here are some examples:
Paul Manafort
Michael Cohen
George Papadopoulos
Rick Gates
Michael T. Flynn
And, let us not forget Trump's "kind of a guy", a body-slamming politician: Greg Gianforte
Now let us look at who Trump's supporters are:
David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan
The American Nazi Party
Various white supremacist groups
Richard Davis
Greg Shaffer
Darian Rachel
Steven Moore
