Sorry, I don't think that's much of a reason.
That same Sup. Ct. said that reasonable controls on arms are allowable. Doing away with AR-15's isn't going to ruin anyone's life. Being killed by one will.
And your argument comparing a vehicle to an AR-15 is like comparing an AR-15 to air. One is used for a purpose needed to live a normal life and at least in this country is a necessity to live. The other is a deadly toy not needed for anything unless you want to kill as many people as you can in the shortest amount of time or as you suggested go out and shoot things up for fun. A short barreled shotgun is a better defensive weapon as well. There simply isn't a reason these weapons should be mass produced and sold.
Trump told a crowd at his rally today he was going to "tone it down." He could have simply done so without saying so and in doing so, the ill-tempered rhetoric fomenting in the heads of various nut cases in the country might have taken the weekend off for awhile, perhaps taking in the world series. But Trump, being Trump, makes his case to his base and they powerfully boo the very notion of "toning it down." They'd rather work themselves up because they get off on it. They reinforce their own belief systems, whatever they may be. Recent examples at Trump rallies include mimicking Trump's demo of a fellow GOP politician body slamming a reporter for asking a question on health care. How's that for rational behavior? Or, the "lock her up chant" all over again with a palpable level of animosity emanating from the crowd. And that doesn't stimulate a nut case or two?
Remember Gerald, nuclear weapons don't kill people, people kill people. That's why were exiting the nuclear proliferation ban...
