Rank beginner!!!

Posted By Paul Maxson

I am attaching an image of M42 I shot last night with my C925 at prime focus and Atik 1HS-2 camera. It is a series of twelve 10 sec exposures. This is the raw as it was processed in Registax. Just out of curiousity, what would be my next step? I know it's not a great image, but it's my first... grin

Saturn from March 9

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Here is an image of Saturn shot from last night under 5/10 seeing. I think some of the seeing had to do with the scope not quite being cooled off. Still, since my little tweak, images are not bad.

Thanks all.

Lots of Saturn, Sun and Jupiter

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I had two choices tonight, image in 4/10 seeing or process what I have been imaging for the past week. I decided to do the last. Instead of posting all the images as separate links, I'm posting the part of my webpage they are located on. The newer images are towards the bottom.

Thanks!!

Saturn I am particularly proud of, but all show decent quality. Hopefully seeing will be better by tomorrow and I can image some more.

Theophilus and an unid'ed crater

Posted By Paul Maxson

Theophilus must have been a popular target last night. I gotta say it was well placed! It gave me a chance to try out my Longpass red filter with the Atik and the C925. That filter really does make a difference. I don't think my Theophilus is as good as Oliver's, but I think it is close. Also, I found the crater in the second image (next message) last night as well, but I can't seem to identify it. Maybe someone can help. I think it looks like a stadium almost.

Finderscope for a C925

Posted By Paul Maxson

I'm trying to find a better finderscope for my C925 than the one Celestron provides. Seems I have to align it everytime I breath heavy. Also, I'm thinking a rt-angle finder would be nice. I want at least a 9x50, and am thinking maybe something in the 12x80 range might be nice.

Thanks!!

A fair Saturn

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

The seeing was not very good, but while I don't think the image is great, it's not too bad and goes to show that if you shoot enough Avi's, maybe one will give a decent image. You really don't want to see the others... grin

Gassendi and Saturn

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I finally hit the jackpot with Saturn. Probably my best Saturn ever! Seeing was very good last night. I also got a very decent image of Gassendi.
