After Christmas Snowy Elk

Posted By James Brown

We had a beautiful snow last night - 10 or 12 inches of fluffy powder. These young elk were resting across the way. This is with my Canon EOS T1i body on an Astro-Physics Traveler 105EDF (610 mm Focal Length). Plus an A-P flattener and A-P Canon adapter. Mounted on a Lapides Modified Teegul and a Gitzo Series 5 tripod.

Merry Christmas!

The Big Lie

Posted By James Brown

The CEO of Gallup Polling sets forth in fairly concise and clear terms something we all knew. I don't know if this writer has an overt political bias or not. I do know that his company has a blue-chip reputation and that this article, although an opinion piece, is dry, factual and very well illustrates the way the government manipulates data.

Re: What a good idea.

Richard Davis said:

If a single Federal Judge decides he or she is going to attempt to usurp states' rights under the 10th Amendment, eliminate the problem altogether.

Sounds like a good plan. No wonder the Dems in the Oklahoma house can't stand it...

Hi Richard:

I think this is a crummy idea. Atheists have every right to marry and receive the rights and privileges of marriage granted to married couples by the State of Oklahoma and the Feds. Are you in favor of forcing atheist couples to find a clergyman to marry?

Also, the 10th Amendment has to be read in the context of the 14th Amendment. It is the Federal Judiciary's job, under the 14th Amendment, to make sure that the laws of the various states are applied equally.

Now if one really wanted to go out there, this Oklahoma legislator could have put forth a bill eliminating all of the zillions of valuable legal and financial benefits granted by Oklahoma to married couples. That would be the extreme radical libertarian view. That bill would also get him tarred and feathered by his constituents...or worse!

Bottom line in my view, this is just political grandstanding, a weak slap at gay marriage that will go nowhere.

New front runner for the worst "fact check" ever

Posted By James Brown

http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/apr/29/rush-limbaugh/rush-limbaugh-says-clinton-foundation-spends-just-/

I personally can't believe that anyone on earth gives credence to self-anointed fact checkers. In this case the author admitted in emails that the claim was entirely true, but that did not stop him from spinning it as mostly false in the public fact check column.

The very entertaining deconstruction column is linked below. If Rod or anyone else are inclined to question the Federalist as a source, that is fine, just take a look at those tax returns though. It is all there, straight from the Clinton Foundation's own returns. Good insight into the Clinton machine here too, sadly not shocking or even surprising to anyone paying attention.

OK, local Democrats

Posted By James Brown

Who are the local US citizen A-Mart Democrats now a days, at least the ones willing to post? Rod, Jim M., anyone else. Lurkers? Anyway, I'm curious who you guys or gals are supporting, if you've made your mind up. Are you feeling the Bern? Are you willing to support Hillary, blossoming scandals and all? Are you a closet Trump supporter! wink Praying that someone else runs?

Thanks in advance, Jim

Speaking of Hillary

Posted By James Brown

I found this article by an honest to goodness blue blood liberal refreshing:

http://www.spectator.co.uk/2016/03/yes-donald-trump-is-grotesque-but-i-will-never-vote-for-hillary-clinton/

So many of my liberal friends are unwilling or unable to even acknowledge that Hillary Clinton might not be fit to be president. People I admire and respect have built walls in their minds that prohibit them from even beginning to consider that Clinton's alleged serial pathological corruption could possibly be real, and not simply some figment of the vast right-wing hate machine. I am sure that we conservatives have blinders on too, now and then, but the blinders worn by Clinton supporters are simply shocking.

One more thing

Posted By James Brown

I don't think that the press has talked much about one aspect of politics that is kind of fascinating this election cycle. Consider: The Democratic Party establishment hand picks a candidate for president and stacks the deck to make sure that she wins... and she turns out to be arguably the most ethically flawed and un-electable D candidate in living memory. The Republican party establishment sits back and assumes that it will all work out... and along comes a rogue candidate who is intellectually and probably ethically bankrupt, plus not even a Republican, and he burns the party to the ground.

Doesn't say much for our party establishment(s) does it? And to think that the pundits are spilling tons of ink on the question of why Bernie and Trump have such followings.

At this point, I'm praying for (a) a Trump win at the convention plus a third party candidate who wins one or two states in the general and thus engages Amendment 12. Or, (b) a Trump loss at a brokered convention followed by his inevitable third party candidacy, where he hopefully wins a few states and thus engages Amendment 12.

Shameless liar

Posted By James Brown

No I'm not talking about Hillary or even "Lyin Ted". I'm talking about Donald J. Trump:

"On Saturday, April 9, Colorado had an “election” without voters. Delegates were chosen on behalf of a presidential nominee, yet the people of Colorado were not able to cast their ballots to say which nominee they preferred.

A planned vote had been canceled. And one million Republicans in Colorado were sidelined."

http://www.wsj.com/articles/let-me-ask-america-a-question-1460675882

To the extent any of you in other states read the BS being spouted by Trump on a daily basis and think, "gee maybe all those Trump voters in CO got screwed by the elites" please rest easy. CO is a caucus state. I went to my caucus and I went to my county convention. Trump supporters were very few and far between. Trump has never done well in polling of Western states including Colorado. If we had done a primary, he would have lost.

All Trump is doing is lying about the actual situation in Colorado to threaten the GOP. He knows he'll lose at the convention if he doesn't win on the first vote. He is a liar and a bully and personally, I'm still on the fence if it somehow happens to be Trump v. Hillary.
