Today's testimony was quite powerful. Did you watch it?
Hi Rod: No, I have not watched any of it, although I've read articles on both sides, and followed the debate here! You'll note that I am not throwing my opinion into the mix in this thread since I have not watched the committee proceedings. I am watching the Stanley Cup - Go Avs!
Understood that the DOJ can prosecute no matter what the committee does, but the DOJ will be put under a lot of pressure if the committee makes a referral.
I'll follow the actual criminal proceedings more closely than I watch the committee proceedings if it comes to that.
FWIW I really despise Adam Schiff. He does your side no favors. His blind partisanship and lies overwhelm any actual dirt he has on Trump. It was stupid to put him on the committee.
Trump and his cronies plans to overturn the election through quasi-legal maneuvering was ridiculous from the start and possibly illegal. The ridiculous part is indisputable since he lost so many suits and his lawyers were severely sanctioned. I read that Trump collected a lot of money to "stop the steal" which is unaccounted for. If that turns out to be true, and I have no idea if it actually is, then that is the sort of thing that should be prosecuted.
I feel that Trump is more of an egomaniacal buffoon than anything else. James Lacey made a great point a few weeks back. Trump is an egomaniacal buffoon, and his attempts to cling to power were rebuffed by our robust system. The real worry is that he is setting a precedent and what if the next maniac who tries to subvert the system is not a buffoon?
