Here is an analogy. How would you feel if I said, "the Davis family of Colorado Springs are a bunch of brainless hillbillies..." I reckon you would object right? And how persuasive would my next reply be if I then countered with, "I never said "every member" of the Davis family..." Now, please explain for those of us who do in fact have functioning brains why "the left" to not the conversational equivalent of "everyone on the left" in the context of your original post. Just for the record, here was your original:
