I'm sure most of those are on your reading list.

My guess is that the Daily KOS is one  that your read Daily with your coffee.

And Congratulations on making sure that you put a virtue signal about getting vaccine #4, so the left can fawn all over you.  smile
p.s.  You don't have photos taken of yourself, and I don't drink coffee.  I never have.  I do not wear a watch either.  Two entirely unimportant factoids!  Happy Friday.

I never had chicken pox so no need to get the shot.

You might want to consider these other vaccines available so you don't have to worry:

Measles, mumps, Rubella, Polio, Hepatitus A, Hep B, Dengue Fever, Pnumonia, Meningitis, Whooping Cough, Typhoid Fever, Yellow Fever, Anthrax (in case you find yourself around any Goats),  and of course Rabies.

You and yours certainly wouldn't want to live too crazily?

I mean with only 4 shots now for Covid, it strikes me that you are living "on the edge", just "Pushing the envelope"

Can I ask a personal question?

At night, when you're all by yourself, do you run with scissors??   shockedcwy
Alas, I don't run at all any more.  In '19 I did a full rupture of my left quadriceps tendon, and in '21 I did a full rupture of my right quad tendon.  I asked my orthopaedic surgeon (now on speed dial) why I was gifted bilaterally with this relatively rare injury. On the xrays he pointed out several sharp bone fragments that tore off of my patella in the rupture events. These spurs had been slowly damaging the huge tendons at the top of the patella for several years, ever since I over-trained for several marathons in the early 2000s.  Eventually the tendons just ripped under tension.

The good news is that the surgery to reattach the tendon to the patella is relatively straight forward, although the rehabilitation was a bitch.  Both times.  sad

So, my quads are better and stronger than new and I can hike and ski to my heart's content.  The Doc says my knee joints are in great shape.  I don't run though, with or without scissors, and I don't jump off of things like I used to!  Thanks for asking!

Don't miss it one bit.  LOL
Correction, I did my left quad in '17 and my right quad in '19.  I was very pleased to get through '21 without an injury.  I had a pattern going there...  Regarding ski lift lines; I hate them too.  We are usually able to ski on week days now, which is much much nicer.

I just got the call last night at 7PM that a fairly good friend, came home to find her husband dead on the floor.  He was stone cold by the time she arrived home.  In his early 40s.

Her father and I are very, very good friends and I know her well.

She just got married, a little over 1 year ago as well.

So her life just turned upside down in an instant.  They haven't contacted me back as to the cause of death but my buddy Mike (the deceased's father in law) said that he and his son in law were golfing on Saturday and he became violently ill on the course and had to stop playing after 9 holes.

He told Mike that if he didn't feel better he was going to the emergency room Monday morning.

Don't know if he ever did, but it is too late now.

The terrible thing for her is that she was the one who found her mother (Mike's 1st wife) dead on the bathroom floor while Mike was on a business trip.

And his wife was an avid runner of marathons like you were.

Bad luck seems to follow them around.  shocked

What a shame.
How horrible.  I feel sad for you and your friends.

I had angina and did not know what it was for about a month. Nothing that serious, but I felt almost an electrical vibration in the center of my chest when I exerted myself. It would stop when I rested. I woke up one night with that sensation again, and I thought this can't be right, and I'm already resting.

I had 100% blockage in 3 arteries in the heart and 90% blockage in three others. I had emergency bypass surgery, and I was not even allowed to sit up to go to the bathroom before the procedure, fearing the onset of a heart-attack that they could not save me from.

I felt silly calling for an ambulance in the middle of the night, but the Lord must have caused me to be alarmed enough to call 911. I likely would not have survived one more ordinary day without intervention.

Don't ignore symptoms, especially cardiac ones.
Hi Russ:  This is incredibly valuable and helpful insight.  Thanks.

With all the anti-vax Trumptoids running around, it's the obvious way to go...
Agreed 110%.  It is impressive how easy the medical/government/pharmaceutical industries make the vaccination and boosting process.  We set up an appointment for Friday evening, after work hours.  Took only a few minutes to set it up. Less time than it takes to read and reply to one of Richard's longer rants!  Then we showed up at the grocery store pharmacy and got the jab.  The needle is so fine you really hardly even feel it.  Then we shopped for 15 minutes, just in case we had a bad reaction.  (Extremely rare).  Also, we each got a 20% off coupon for groceries, up to $200.  With inflation, it is pretty easy to hit the $200 mark at the grocery store!  So basically we were paid $80 total, just to get two boosters.  Could not have been easier.

Reasonable point, but my wife and I pay a boat-load of taxes, so I'm happy to get $80 back!  The solar tax credit is another bribe I've been happy to accept.  We could debate of course whether these are well-thought out programs from a tax policy perspective.  I personally think that paying me 40% of the total cost (5 years ago) to build a solar power system that I needed to build anyway is probably not great tax policy...

But the policy is what it is, so I am happy for the credit.  Jim

Sadly Rich, that is not how it works, at least in my own experience.  I answer your questions, but you dodge, ignore, or otherwise refuse to answer my questions.  This is your nature.  It will never change.  Jim

Sorry, my mistake.  wink
I personally think that "retard" should never be used to describe a person with an actual learning disability.  Only a true jerk would use the word in that manner.

But Rich, context matters. So does back story.  Russ is obviously mocking those who are not burdened with learning disabilities, who nonetheless insist on using "The Democrat Party" instead of the proper name.  Rush started that 20 years ago, didn't he?

As far as back story goes, I know that Russ, like myself, is a huge fan of Tropic Thunder.  Perhaps the most un-PC film of all time?  Robert Downey Jr's "you went full retard" scene is comedy gold if you are crass enough, like me 'n Russ.   Always happy to explain these things to you.

Not Russ, but I agree with him.  FWIW, my own perspective only, "Democrat Party"  is not the name of the party.  I personally find it sort of weakly childish to misname something as if it were a a bold and clever joke.
