The only liar here is you counselor, since you're claiming that I falsely attributed any position one way or the other upon you. I didn't. I simply put forth a case since you challenged me to engage in a discussion about the nuances of cases involving people arrested and jailed.
You made the challenge and now you're impotent to describe the "nuances" of the case?
So back to your above accusation. What position is it that you claim I attributed to you? I'll reiterate. I didn't. Define it.
Your self-pity party is merely a deflection. Get a grip.
Now then, as I clearly stated, VIOLENT offenders are being let out of jail and they are then recommitting violent crimes. That was MY position.
I couldn't give a damn about the Millionaire or Billionaire who committed crimes of embezzlement, tax fraud, or some other non-violent offense and got out of jail while waiting for his trial, because he could afford the bail.
I'm not interested in comparing apples to oranges as you are and then getting all riled up about the inequities of the cash bail system. It is irrelevant.
What is RELEVANT is the violent offense bail, and I'm pretty sure that there aren't a great number of Millionaires and Billionaires who are committing carjackings, armed robberies, violent assaults, and rapes out there to the extent that poor and homeless people in society are, and who are being released over the indigent in society.
If you can, please supply the evidence counselor to show that an Elon Musk type who cut his wife's throat with a butcher knife was let out of jail because he could make bail, at a much greater rate of release, than the poor innocent teen who pulled a lady out of her Lexus beat her, and shot her in the street to steal the car.
As I stated, I couldn't care less about the inequities of the cash bail system when it comes to non-violent crimes. They aren't going to affect the physical safety of Jane Doe who is heading home from her job on 42nd street and gets beaten or raped.
Let them all out as far as I'm concerned.
Show me the stats whereby Elon Musk was able to post bail for a rape or violent carjacking he committed and the lesser in society was jailed because he couldn't make the bail.
Even IF that type of thing were occurring, it doesn't justify letting ALL violent criminals out of jail, in order to satisfy the anger of pissed off little leftist Democrats who don't like the inequity of the current system.
If You think that it does, and If you think it is reasonable to let EVERY violent offender out of jail in NYC, because Millionaires can afford the bail over a street urchin, then you're a complete moron.
That remedy is a remedy that leftist Jackasses come up with and it is occurring in many large Democrat run cities around the nation.
My hope would be that all who commit crimes of violence would be treated equally as far as incarceration goes, however I'm not dumb enough to say "ok, since Elon Musk can afford the bail, I'll release this violent angry criminal who can't, justto satisfy the anger of idiots out there who demand it".
In other words, I'm not interested in burning the entire system and the nation to satisfy a bunch of angry leftists. Are you?
Nuanced
issue Rich, read my posts. Here are two statements I think are true:
1. It is a bad idea to eliminate cash bail altogether.
2. Cash bail favors the wealthy and connected, it is an unfairly applied system.
The
nuance comes in when we consider what best to do to address the injustice in the present bail system. Throwing out the system is
not a good plan. I don't have all the proper corrections in mind, but I would be happy to discuss the alternatives if anyone has any insight into this difficult and yes,
nuanced issue.
