I am very curious what the local Trump supporters are going to do in our Senate election. Stay home? Write in a MAGA candidate? Vote for O'Dea? One problem for religious conservatives and slavish Trump supporters is that O'Dea is vocally pro-choice. https://www.joeodea.com/abortion I reckon that makes him a RINO like me to some, but I guess we will see in November who the real republicans are.
Of course, Bennet and much of the press is spending a lot of time and money trying to smear O'Dea with the typical smears leveled against all republicans this cycle: (Trump-like, fascist, insurrection-supporting, anti-choice, anti-everything-except-white-men scum). I don't think those smears will stick to O'Dea. This is the race I will be watching most closely this November. If Trump's base sits this one out, O'Dea loses. If Trump's base votes republican, even though they can not be thrilled with all of O'Dea's policies, this could be close because of the economy and the impression many people have of Bennet.

Obviously only of local interest, still Newt wrote an op-ed over the weekend that is optimistic. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/joe-odea-surprise-democrats-defeat-michael-bennet-colorado-november
One candidate for Senator in Colorado is a fourth generation native. He is the son of a police officer, and is now the CEO of a construction firm that employs more than 300 Coloradans. This candidate attended Mullen High School in Denver, and attended Colorado State University, where he studied construction management. After obtaining his union carpenter card, he dropped out of school in 1983 to run he and his wife's construction company full time. He has been successful and owns the Mile High Station and Ironworks event centers in Denver. He has raised kids here and is a genuine outdoorsman.
He is pro-choice.The other candidate, the incumbent, was born to a diplomat in India, raised in Washington DC and moved to Colorado in 1997. He was
appointed to his Senate seat In 2009 and has held it since. He attended St. Albans School in DC, Wesleyan University in Connecticut and Yale Law, also in Connecticut. This candidate released a spot showing him fly fishing in the Arkansas River, my home water. https://gazette.com/elections/bennet-goes-fishing-with-unaffiliated-angler-touts-public-lands-advocacy-in-tv-ad/article_68c6858f-6631-5824-84a7-23789031ad02.html A real Coloradan right? Oops, it turns out he only bought a one day fishing license, according to his campaign. https://www.axios.com/local/denver/2022/08/05/colorado-recount-affirms-primary-results-tina-peters Not as bad as Dukakis' famous tank photo, but you can bet this story of the sham outdoorsman has made the rounds.
Oh, this candidate is pro-choice too.I get it that most everyone votes party line. But if party line were not a big thing for you, who would you vote for?
