The Price Of An Incompetent Fed Chair

Of course you do.  Some things are entirely predictable.

We all indulge in some arm-chair quarterbacking now and then, but this dude who thinks it would have been easy to avoid inflation, recession, and orchestrate a "soft landing" in 2022 takes the cake.  As you well know, there are a lot of geopolitical and domestic factors driving the current economy.  Pandemic and war in Europe to name a few.  Flooding the economy with free money being another.  In politics, it is normal,  if not entirely fair, for the president to take the blame, and the Ds are going to 'take the blame' in about 4 weeks.    Jim

You are in pretty good shape then!

I've been wrong about politics so much and so often recently that it is a wonder I even have the audacity to express opinions.  You'll probably recall that I did not think the Roberts Court would overturn Roe and said so here.  I was pretty confident that the Senate would not flip in '20.  (Thanks Georgia... sad).  I posted here that there was no way Biden's approval rating could drop further, back when it was in the mid-40s.  Those are a few that popped into my mind, there are many more!

All 74,222,958 (seventy four million) of them?  That is gonna suck.

I have a real point here about the sad state of political reporting.

No you were not given a number.  Do you reckon that was intentional on the article author's part?  Maybe their agenda is to tar as many Republicans as possible with the ravings of a few madmen?  Click-bait for a certain demographic of course.

Do you remember the original powers of 10 slide movie from the 1970's?  It was totally cool at the time and has been updated now and then.  Here is a sweet new version, with I believe Morgan Freeman narrating.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44cv416bKP4

Anyway, here is another powers of ten analysis, for your consideration and enjoyment:

74,000,000 Trump voters in 2020,
7,400,000 Trump voters who have serious concerns about alleged, but readily debunked, widespread election fraud,
740,000 Trump voters who are absolutely convinced the election fraud was so bad that Trump actually won in 2022,
74,000 Trump voters who say they support armed insurrection to take back the country from the damn liberal establishment who stole the election,
7,400 Trump voters who will say that they are willing to carry a gun in the "armed insurrection,"
740  Trump voters who actually would carry a gun in the "armed insurrection,"
7.4  Trump voters who would actually shoot at the National Guard, Army, and State or Federal Police forces in the armed "insurrection,"
.0  Trump voters who actually have shot anyone in an armed insurrection.

This one’s bad for sure and I think he’ll be indicted on one or multiple counts after the election. That said, according to the TV news the election is over. I don’t think it is and the only people they are polling are folks who are willing to take a poll. I wouldn’t have time for any of that nonsense as I’m sure would most people. The polls have been wrong before and recently more so.
A large chunk of the political press has been focused recently on the incredible polling numbers from the NYT/Sienna poll released about three days ago.  If this poll is even remotely accurate it signals a bad election day for the Democratic Party.  Abortion has lost its legs as an issue in the swing states for sure.  The economy continues to be terrible.  Biden is transparently and openly desperate to buy votes (hey, lets deplete the strategic oil reserve entirely!).

I like you guys a lot, but you are monolithically focused on a person who does not matter to most voters.

Hi Jim:

Good question.  I know from his speech yesterday that Pence is lining up to run against Trump.  I expect others to take a crack at him.  Still, I am very worried that Trump's supporters are numerous enough to carry him to a nomination in 2024.  I need James to show up and tell me not to worry about it...  My best guess is that support for Trump is 50/50 in the GOP, and that is plenty to carry him to the nomination.

That said, the intended context of my earlier post was the 2022 midterms, and I do not think the strategy of "Trump this" or "Trump that" is going to carry the day for the Democrats.  I did not make the context clear though, it was only in my head, sorry about that...  With respect to the 2022 midterms, the mono-focus on Trump is going to backfire, in my often incorrect opinion.  There is too much other stuff going on that eclipses Trump, Jan 6, and abortion.  Maybe not so much in 2024 if Trump is actually on the ballot.

I'd be OK with that ticket, if Trump does in fact run again.  A team with a crazy megalomaniac and a crazy sycophant should be beatable in the primaries.  I sure hope so anyway.  Jim

Those are some pretty alarming numbers. Vote them all out.
Respectfully, I think that is silly.  I'd bet the WaPO is spinning it such that anyone who ever questions anything about a possible election irregularity., asks for voter ID or anything along those lines is a full blown election denier.  Their editorial board is shameless.

I guarantee that Kemp from GA is on that list.   In his debate with Abrams she accused him of being a full time vote suppressor.  Yet this is the woman who loudly claimed that she was robbed four years ago!  Who are you going to vote for then?  Is Newsome without any baggage?  I'm not sure if Feinstein is running, but are you going to vote for her, she is an election result denier:
