outdated ccd ?

Brian:

I felt that the 416XTE had seen it's days and sold mine earlier this year and bought a DSI.

Not that the 416 isn't a fair instrument but rather it's a PITA to operate.

Code Requirement Eliminated?

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Let's face it Jim, it keeps out the riff-raff.

I have a 1st Class Commercial radio license. I can operate any commercial radio or TV station in the US but I can't get a amateur license unless I learn the morse code.

Nonsense.

Green lasers-will they be outlawed?

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Here in Arizona we have a lot of F16's and Warthogs flying around. Frankly I wouldn't even consider pointing ANY laser at them. You just might get more than you bargined for in return.

Astromart forum member passed away... :*(

Mike:

If you live in an adult (55+) community like Dianne and I do, you get pretty use to this experience. People are passing over all the time. You tend to get a different viewpoint on the subject.

In fact, you'll even notice a different attitude about death with the people around you. Not that you get callous to it, but rather it just becomes a way of life. Not good, not bad, just the way things happen.

Chester our Cheeto eating road runner

I might also add he likes hamburger, wieners, pork chops, steak, cheese, pork roast and anything else that has MEAT!

We simply cut up the left overs from dinner and he and his mate are there bright and early (about 10AM) to chow down. That is providing the wind isn't blowing or it's too cold or raining.

Almost everyday he comes up to the back sliding glass door to see what we are doing.

Several days ago he went into the neighbor's garage, hopped up on a shelf and watched him do his wood working for a few minutes.

Our recently adopted pound dog Ben

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Vince:

Ben has separation anxiety. Once he discovers that when you leave him you'll come back he'll be okay.

We had a 115# Doberman that had the same problem and he turned into a wonderful dog. I think being in the pound without human companionship messes up their head for awhile.

Thoughts on Orion Epic-2 ED eyepieces

I've got two of them and frankly, I like'em. Sure you can pay $300+ for the Pentax but for $65 you can't beat them. Right now they are on sale for $55. What a deal.

Time Travel

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

On deeper consideration the place wouldn't be a problem if you took the machine with you. If you think about it for awhile you'll find that you and the entire machine go back in time. Therefore the surroundings would change around you and where you where in space-time wouldn't make any difference because you'd be traveling in space-time rather than just time itself.

Meade Autostar and serial-USB cable...

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Jean:

I don't think the Autostar gives you the option to use a USB cable. It's either COM 1 through COM 4 or you can plug one in at the blank spot say COM 5 but nowhere in the program does it give the option USB.

I'd like to use the USB also, but I had to run a separate serial cable.
