Breaking: Jan 6th Committee To Issue Criminal Referrals On Trump

I think Greg means the left, but I also think he has it backwards.  I'm scared to death he'll run again and I'm at least a RINO.   Actually I consider myself to be a fairly typical Republican of the "never Trump" variety.  I am particularly scared that Trump will lose the nomination and run as an independent spoiler.

Consider this - if somehow the DOJ, the commission, or anyone else effectively removes Trump from the mix in 2024 - meaning that he is not the R nominee, and he can not run independently, the net effect may be that a different, more competent R is elected president.  Especially if Biden or Harris is the D nominee.   Jim

Get what?  Here is a simple question.  Who do you think fears a Trump candidacy the most; Joe Biden or Ron DeSantis?

Or does Trump get a pass merely because he was a former President or because it would be too divisive to prosecute him? The GOP sure didn't care about divisiveness when they were chanting "lock her up" for all those years. Make your minds up. Is the GOP the party of law and order or not?
Hi James:

Trump will be forgotten in short order if the Country remains dissatisfied with the current administration.  The Rs control the House.  They did not get the Senate, and that is probably Trump's fault.  The D's should not look for help from candidates like Oz and Walker in 2024 though - Trump's influence is waning.  As you note above, even some hard core jail-time-serving insurrectionists have become disillusioned recently.  Jim

Well, like James and I mentioned just the other day - just because the source is bad does not mean that it is always wrong!  cool  I'd love to be the copyright holder of some of these stolen images!

Good point, it is not like the Donald refrains from litigation.  My guess is that he interviewed dozens of lawyers who told him he had no defamation case against the NYT, CNN and so on.  I'm surprised one of his now sanctioned and disgraced hacks didn't take the case!  I guess even Sidney Powell and her pals have some level of standards...  I'm probably the first person in history to write that sentence!

Just a guess Rich, don't stroke out.

Is there anything that the left claimed to be a conspiracy theory regarding Twitter...

I have a lot of reading to do, before I weigh in here, James.  But as you know, Matt Taibbi has gone after government/media cooperation before and been proved right (WMD, Iraq war).  He has a lot of credibility.  I have glanced at a few recent articles, and it is very clear that the press and FBI are labeling Taibbi a conspiracy theorist.  I am guessing that is a cynical tactical move they may come to regret.

I am way behind on this story though, so I have not formed an opinion to share.  Jim

The CNN article you linked above references Webster's, various peoples' opinions, common usage an so on.  That is just politics.  The only thing that actually matters from the DOJ/defendant perspective are the legal definitions from Title 18:
