Drop down to the Olympus forum. About 9 messages down from the top is a reply from a person who said that the Zink-Air batts work fine in the OM-1's. I think the batt number was 675, but I'm not sure. I bought a pack of them for my OM-1 and every thing seems to work fine. I picked up a pack of 4 at ACO Hardware for $4.99. I think they are hearing aid batts

First one is easy. Neither the chicken or egg. It was the rooster.

Not sure why the chicken crossed the road. Maybe it had something to do with the rooster.

And as for "It's tastes like chicken" I always order steak cause I ain't eating no chicken after the rooster has had it and it's been left on the side of the road.

These are just my personal opinions and are not ment to offend any chicken lovers or roosters.

Here's one you might want to try. get a canister vaccum or a shop vac and a length of rubber or plastic hose small enough to fit inside of the baffle tube and long enough to reach inside past the end of the baffle tube. Insert one end of the tube into the vaccum hose and duct tape it together. run the smaller tube down the baffle tube untill it just extends past the end of the tube. Turn the vacuum on and see if you can suck out the offending critter. Or just leave it alone. As long as it's not resting on the mirror or the corrector plate it should not cause any problem.

If it's powder coated then I don't think paint will work too good. Try a good automotive cleaner wax to remove the scuffs. Powder coating is pretty tough stuff.

To remove the ota from the forks/wedge, you really need two people, but if you are careful, you can do it by your self. First, loosen the 4 allen bolts at the bottom of the fork arms, then unscrew the 4 screws holding the ota to the fork arm ears. The ota will slide right out. As far as the cg-5 goes, it'll carry the load of the c-8, but it's pushing the mount to it's weight limits. Make sure you have the ota balanced well. You will also need a dove tail bar to mate the ota and the mount, which you can get at most astronomy shops, or keep an eye out here on astromart for a used one. I think I paid about $35 for mine here. One big word of caution, DO NOT overtighten the screws going into the front or back of the ota, as the castings are made out of cast alum. and will strip under a lot of torque. As far as rings go, theres someone here on astromart selling a set of rings for a c-8 now for $100 I think.

My first scope was an old Focal spotting scope I bought at the flea market when I was around 14. With it I saw Saturn and was hooked. My first real scope was a Jason reflector mounted on an EQ mount. I sold it to a friend, who gave it to his oldest daughter, who has passed it down to her younger sister. After almost 20 years, it's mirrors are still in great shape and still has great views.

Try taking the batt. out and draining some of the charge out of them by placing them in a flashlight and turning it on for a while. This is what I have to do when I change the batts. in my digital cameras (Durecell and Everready in Olumpus and Kodak).

I have one of the cheaper lasers also and used 3 strips of packing tape about 1\4 inch wide placed at the 12,4, and 8 o'clock position to tighten up the laser in the focuser. One word of caution about these cheaper lasers. Build or buy a V-block and check the laser alignment!! I bought 2, one from Orion and a Laser Collimator II and both were off quite a bit.
