The Tak will have higher contrast while the mak will have higher resolution. Planetary moons will be cleaner in the Tak. You'll be able to see more in the mak but you'll have to look harder to find it. The views will be more aesthetically pleasing in the Tak. The Tak will be ready to use much quicker.

I know Jerry has a 6" apo and a bigger newt or two. I suspect he's trying, as many of us are, to find the perfect mix. The scope is like new, shipping is free and he's already paid the duties (Canadian)on it...might be a good deal for someone who doesn't want to wait. No harm in making the offer.

A scope is called an apochromat because it has exceptional correction for chromatism. The problem lies in the fact that color correction is a matter of degrees, with real-world performance over a broad range. Over the years people have used different standards to set the mark at which a scope can be called apochromatic. One standard which is often referred to is called the Abbe criteria. It is a very high standard which is seldom if ever achieved. One scope maker says that no current production telescopes meet the Abbe criteria.

The bottom line is that the cut off is a bit fuzzy, depending on if you're using a broad definition or a narrow one. It would be more useful to have a color correction factor instead of a yes/no status.

The SE-L for the EM-200 has three legs 8) , each of which is just over 50" long (including the +/- 3" metal tip). They're about 1 5/8" thick and taper from +/- 3 1/2" wide at the top to 3" at the bottom.

Seems to me I read somewhere that the TeleVue caps for the 11mm plossl work, $1 a piece from Televue I recall. Double check before you buy!

Hi Bill, that site of Stew's is from his days as a dealer I believe. The eyepieces referenced are the Pentax smc Orthos. They have one element which is a low dispersion glass.
