Dmitri,
Here is one form Orion but it does not run on small AA batteries:

I think you will need a larger battery as others have pointed out.

Paracorr and Pentax XW EP's

Posted By Stu Travelbee

Doug,
Reading from the Tele Vue web site, "As you've read, all Newtonian/Dobsonian telescopes can benefit from using a Tele Vue Paracorr (Parabola Corrector) to eliminate coma in the image. One aspect to optimizing this correction is the distance of the eyepieces focus point (field stop location) to the last surface of the Paracorr lens (within a small +/- tolerance of course). Typical eyepieces used with fast Newtonians can have field stop locations differing by as much as half an inch. To accommodate for the differences, we developed the "Tunable Top." Maybe a call to Tele Vue to find out what this distance is would be the best solution to your question. Please share it with us if your do.

Progressive Lenses under the stars

Posted By Stu Travelbee

John,

I always have the transition area on the progressives lowered by 2mm. It is only a small amount and I find no negative issues when viewing through scopes and binocs with my progressives. I also have anti-reflective coatings applied, usually ~ $50 extra.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Posted By Stu Travelbee

Alan,
I have an L&R ultrasonic clearer I use for jewelery and many other small items. When you mix a new tank of water and cleaning solution you have to run the unit for a few minutes to get the air out of the fresh water and mix the cleaning solution with the new water. The test to see if the mix is ready to clean objects is to stick a foil gum wrapper in the solution and if the solution is ready the foil will have many pin holes in it by the ultrasonic action. I would not want to subject a high quality mirror's coatings to this kind of power. Just sticking your finger in the solution when the ultrasonic clearer is on gives you a very harsh "tingle".

What Denkmeier?

Posted By Stu Travelbee

One suggestion would be to get a good understanding of the binoviewer you are interested in. You say you have not even been to the Denkmeier site so why don't you give it a visit.. http://deepskybinoviewer.com/ Now you will be better informed. Give the gents a Denkmeier a call and they will be happy to guide you through your purchase.
