Milt and I corresponded quite frequently regarding our TEC fluorite scopes and although I never met him, felt as though I "knew" him. This news really has greatly shaken and saddened me.

Through our emails, I could tell he was a highly intelligent and skilled observer. And as his posts on the various forums throughout the years will attest to, he was respectfully and reserved when discussions became heated, a true testament to the gentleman that he is.

The amateur astro community surely has suffered a loss. Rest in peace, Milt. You will be sorely missed.

TEC to stop production of TEC160ED?

Several months ago Yuri mentioned that he was considering introducing another version of the TEC160ED using FPL-53. It would be between F7 and F8 focal ratio and be priced $10,000-ish. But if it's going to happen, it won't happen in 2011...this is from the man himself.

4 inch scopes

Hi Bruce,

Just so we can get the ball rolling on the discussion, can you clarify two things for me?

1) "the king of the 4" tripples a Tak or a SV"- Is this a statement or a question?
2) "if the comparison is a heads up" - do you mean if the result of the comparison between the scopes show them to basically be equal?

I'm assuming we're talking about the Takahashi TSA102 vs. the SV105, both of which are triplet apochromats.
