Learning the ropes of my Canon 300D. Here is my first try at M31.

4 images of 85sec. each in RAW mode @ ISO 800.
LX200 10" f6.3 widefield
Combined with Images Plus, levels and Unsharp Mask in Photoshop.

Hopefully more images to combine at longer exposures with my ST4 (which I have never used yet)next time.

Any suggestions?

Hello All,

I couldn't help but notice the back cover of S&T. Is the new "NexImage" system using Registax "Freeware" for image processing? sad

Wonder if this future Registax freeware?

Dead pixels on new 300D ????

Hello friends,

What is this dead zone in the middle of the signal noise. Its easy to spot in M31....a little more difficult to see in M45, but its still visible. Bought my Digital Rebel with 150,000 rewards points from AMEX in August. It shipped to me in 48hrs. I was VERY happy......until now.

M45 Pleiades

Hi everyone,

Here is an M45 image taken with my Digital Rebel and newly purchased Orion 80mm ED.

It is mounted atop my LX200 10"

Info on the image is:
15 RAW's @ 80sec. each
Dark frame subtracted
Calibrated,aligned and combined with Images Plus
Levels adjusted in Photo Shop

Digital Rebel and ............filter....IDAS LPS

Hello all,

In past weeks I decided to try my "Lumicon Deep Sky" filter on my 300D.
Much to my surprise, the image was rather green/blue. Without the filter it has normal color balance.
I've seen other 300D posts here using a IDAS LPS filter with great results. my Digital Rebel is the unmodified
version .

Please forgive my ignorance,but what am I missing :S ?

Hi all,

Here's my contribution to the eclipse posts. 4 secs f/8 ISO 400 Canon Digital Rebel. I'm in the process of a mosaic of the first half to this point. I took a little unexpected nap :S for the last half ! Oh well, there's always 2007.

ST-4..is it really needed ?

Hello all,

I've had an ST-4 sitting in its case for a few years now. Being the owner of a 300D DSLR, I've have found the need for longer exposures than 1.5 min (yes, I use a 10" f6.3 LX 200 Classic ). Figuring that I would try to make the learning curve as painles as possible, I purchased a Tau Ceti flip mirror.

Well, the learning curve seems to be steep. Possibly due to my impatience.

I would like to hear from your on your thoughts of newer guider options ie; LPI, unmodified webcam with Guide Dog, etc.

ST4 To be ....or not to be......???

I do own an ST4. I've been thinking about other auto guiding options for my LX200 which is mounted perm. in my observatory.

What results has anyone had with "Guide Dog" ?

Would be interested in your thoughts.

Fun target M42 for my Drebel

Hi all,

Weather hasn't been very cooperative in CT. Last night was a real break in the clouds. I decided to try my ST-4. After a long learning period I gave the Horsehead a try and M42 as a backup for my self esteem.

As you can see by the M42 post.....I'll try the horse again :S
