Mount for a binoscope

How about checking out the Unistar mount from Universal Astronomics? I'm sure that they could make the proper adaptor for your configuration, they can be fitted with DSC, etc. Check the homepage of Astromart for a link to their site.

I have both their light and standard versions and am extremely please with the quality and flexibility of their mounts.

80mm Refractor Recommendation

For what it's worth--

I'm having really good results with an Orion 80ED, now that I've replaced the focuser with a model from Moonlight. The optics of this scope are pretty good--not too different from a TV85. The mechanical build quality is not remarkable, however, and the stock focuser is pretty weak. You can get a used Orion these days for under $400; the Moonlight focuser costs about $275, and you still have a good scope for less than $700.

I've been using a Universal Astronomics microstar mount with fantastic results--it's very affordable, incredibly easy to use and stable, and can be use with much larger OTA if one would like.

I had good results using either a Baader contrast booster or a green filter, both of which appear to cut down on glare.

Greater contrast, less glare, and more surface detail. I strongly prefer double-stacking; is it worth it? Only you can decide this.

Televue, of course. Domestically based, fantastic customer service, phenomonally great equipment, turn-key systems--but you can't go wrong with Taks, too (though I don't like all of their bits and pieces...)

Alt-AZ Mounts

My DiscMount 6 is the best alt az mount that I've ever used. That said, you may want to check out Universal Astronomics' line of mounts. I have their heavy duty and microstar versions and both are very solid and smooth.
