Remember Ted Kazinski and Timothy McVeigh. Our stereotype calls for mideast origin, certain surnames, but we have regularly seen very determined and deadly terrorists who do not match that mold.

And there are a lot of pleasant sounding fairy tales about Israeli security. I lived there for 2 years and know why it isn't being adopted, here:

Lots of people standing around with submachineguns and capricious use of strip searches of anyone they feel like. And the largest factor is they have no traffic to screen compared to US transport. The entire nation has a million fewer people than New Jersey. Israel has no experience whatsoever with passenger throughput requirements of even 1% of the US air traffic volume.

If we feel that is necessary to fly, it's time to end commercial aviation.
