I took twenty or more shots and this was the best. I may have needed a little more speed. Note the V-shape of the legs indicative of the adult. This is a particularly light bird, much more than the male.

Canon 10D 100-400mm IS @ 400mm.

I believe this is a female. In the phalarope's the females are larger and more colorful.
