Just for fun

How did you hook your camera up? I have an Easy Share DX 4900, and I didn't think that there was an adapter!

Thanks,
Dannon

What do I need to start?

Also, I have a Kodak Easy Share DX 6490 that can take .mov, I'm not sure if that can be used.

Thanks,
Dannon

We're getting a webcam soon and would like to practice using Registax and photoshop. Would some one post or send us your .avi's to [email protected] ?

That would be super-keen-neat-o!

Thanks,

Meade 12''GPS or nexstar 11"

Posted By Dannon Vick

If this scope is going to be used mostly in one location, then go with the 12" (aperture is king), but if you plan to take it (even on a semi-regular basis) to other locations, go with the 11", it's much, much easier to handle.
BTW, anything you can see visually with a telescope is many hundreds of times fainter and/or less detailed, because the photos are time exposed and then usually computer "enhanced" (modified to bring out natural detail already in the picture.)
My best advice is to go to a local star party and look through a few scopes to "see what there is to see", because it's gonna suck to drop five large and be disappointed.

Newb trying astrophotography - some Q's

I think the image is shockingly good considering the equipment. I never knew that the moon had an atmosphere, though.

dark-sky site Danbury CT ?

Check out the dark sky map for your area, I found this, 49 miles as the crow flies (click the light polution map and road map links):

This spot is used by http://www.rocklandastronomy.com/ I highly recommend finding a club, as Jen and I have found observing much more rewarding and fun with other people having a good time.
