Parallax Newtonians

Posted By francois regembal

Hi,
I am interested in a Parallax Instrument Newtonian scope for CCD imaging. More specifically the 12.5" model. I would use it on an AP1200 mount.
Has anyone some experience with such a OTA?
Thanks,

Francois

Upgrade from C14: overwhelmed with options!

Posted By francois regembal

Hi all,
I am looking at upgrading from my C14 for CCD imaging and I find the market place very crowded with new products. I feel overwhelmed by the choices between the RCOS, the Planewave CDK, the Starizona Hyperion or the Teton Telescope new RC astrographs...
They all claim that they have the best design etc. and I am lost!
Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks!

AP160 to ST10 or STL11k connection

Posted By francois regembal

I am looking for solutions to attach an SBIG ST10XME or an STL11000 camera to my AP160 refractor only by threaded connections.
Does anyone have suggestions of adapters of various kinds that can be used to achieve such solid attachment?

Thanks,

Francois

How to re-assemble an eyepiece?...

Posted By francois regembal

Hi Group,
Something really unfortunate happened to me... here is the story.
I sold a Meade 4.7mm UWA eyepiece on Astromart some time ago which I shipped USPS. Somehow, the eyepiece arrived at its destination, totally dismantled! I mean that someone at USPS had opened the box, unscrewed the barrel and dislodged all the lenses!
Needless to say that I offered a full refund to my buyer and I got the eyepiece back.
Now I am left with this collection of lenses and I have no idea in which order to put them back together...
Would someone here have enough knowledge to re-assemble this eyepiece for me? I could pay for this service.

Thanks!

Francois

Noise Ninja

Posted By francois regembal

Hi Group,
I want to purchase the Noise Ninja plug in to improve my noise reduction technique in Photoshop.
I am seeking feedback from current users of this plug in and also, I would like some advice related to which option to purchase between the "Pro" at $79 and the "Home" versions (at $49).

Thanks!

Hi all,

I need to replace the batteries of my AP 8x50 straight-thru illuminated finderscope but I am not sure which ones I need (I lost the original ones).
Can someone tell me?

Thanks!

Flat-field, Harmer-Wynne optical design

Posted By francois regembal

Hi Group (and Roland!)

Starizona just released a new astrograph, the "Hyperion" which is a 12.5" F/8 scope with an alledged "Flat-field, Harmer-Wynne optical design".
Does anyone have experience with such optical design? What are the pros and cons?
I am in the market for such type scope and so far, I was contemplating the Planewave CDK 12.5. Any idea how the two scopes would compare?

Thanks!

Francois

GPS and AP1200

Posted By francois regembal

Hi all,
I have been looking for a simple "plug and play" GPS which would connect to the AP1200 CP3 system to feed it with accurate coordinates and time/date.
The searches I've done only provided information on systems which seems complicated and not user friendly at all.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Francois
FYI, I have a very easy GPS system which work great with my G11 (very "transparent" to the user)

Telescope sizes: inches vs. mm

Posted By francois regembal

After that long chat, everyone deserves a good drink! How about a gallon of water? BUT an "American gallon" (3.785 liters), or a "British gallon" (4.543 liters)???
However, for a Frenchman living in the US, I find the hardest to be the Farenheit system. Frankly, the Celsius scale makes a lot of sense: pure water freezes at sea level at 0°C and boils at 100°C: how about that???

Differences in OIII filters

Posted By francois regembal

I'm afraid I'm lost here: does your scale mean that Televue has the best or the worst of the OIII filters???
