I can't know the specifics of your relationship with your g/f, but if you decide to toss the scope she brought over for you...then do it as delicately as possible... 8)
Know what I'm sayin'?
OTOH, something like a TV-76 or TV-85 on a Telepod or even a Dob should make you happy and her too if she is the least bit interested in the hobby. It really doesn't sound like a good plan to improve the shortcomings of that other scope.

...and now I can answer my own original question.
The wooden legs are identical on each tripod. The
adapters (green hub at the top) are also identical
as far as the leg mountings are concerned. Of course
the surfaces where the respective mounts sit are
quite different. This goes in the "Just so you know"
category... 8)

tagging items as sold

Well, what's worse in my opinion, is when the item is sold and they don't bother changing the ad or responding to those who inquire about it...
Recently,in looking for something, I responded to an old ad, got the message back that "yes, I still have it and it's for sale." "Great!" thought I...then proceeded to send multiple emails, PM's and responses to the ad only to have the dude vanish without a word. And the ad is still there... :S

Televue Binovue with TV76 and Panoramic Mount

Hi Paul. It was a few years ago, and my first experience using a binovue. I recall balance being a little tricky. At the time I only had a pair of
25mm Celestron Plossls, but was favorably impressed with using both eyes to view the Moon. Seemed cumbersome as I found it difficult to merge
and hold onto the mount at the same time. This was TV-76, Everbright, hi-hat adapter, 2x barlow on a Panoramic mount. Didn't use the BinoVue again until just recently with a driven mount and FC-100. Much easier to futz with when balanced on a driven mount. smile
