Alvan Clark faceplate

Posted By ashton kaidi

Hi
I am working on a project to compile different faceplate print configuration on 3"-6" Alvan Clark refractors Dated from 1890-1915. There are some controversy regarding the letter printing on these early scopes. For example, Some were done in block letters while others in script format. Also some were dated while others were not. Another example of this confusion is the printing format outlined in Artists in Optics. they mention script printing for refractors from 1902-1909, when there are a few circulating with block printing. If you have a Clark refractor, can you please forward a picture or two of the face plate. Please include date for the scope if the faceplate is undated. I will forward the collection of the images to all who responded (there will be no mention of names, only face plate pictures and dates) and hopefully we can have a better understanding of how these were done. If you prefer you can submit anonymously. Please let me know and I can provide an email address. Thanks in advance
Ashton

Try taking all of the batteries out and then place 2 c batteries in the left battery compartment only. It will help tightly engage the gears. Also recommend Bucks stainless steel gears from Peterson Eng. They work much better that the meades plastic gears

SCAM in progress on Astromart!

Posted By ashton kaidi

Jef
You are reading way too much into this. Since I am the person who placed the add, I can explain. The reason I placed the add is as follows. I had the same problem as the guy who placed the previous add. I never believed that he could sell a dead contoller and so I had held back on placing an add to sell mine. When his item sold, I placed my add to see if mine would also sell. If I have a problem with the add, I ususally approach the person who placed the add not waste peoples time on a forum. I believe you are doing more harm to astromart than good. Please do not waste our time with these comments in the future. An appology is in order. I would like to sincerely thank all of my good astromart fellows for the heads-up.
