GP-DX mount on a Televue Tripod

Posted By Barry Clarke

Mackinnon,
I have done what you are thinking about doing. I order the Gibraltar legs from KB systems who make them for TeleVue (www.kbsystems.com) The legs are Dark Walnut and they are trimmed in brass fittings. If you are going to have more than 20 pounds on the mount, you might want to consider six clamps instead of three. Nothing can get you moving fastest late at night than to see your equipment beginnig to tilt as a leg slips. They have several other wood selections to chose from also. I have the mount and scope stored right now, but if you want digital pictures let me know and I will send them to you.
Best regards,
Barry

Width of Pentax 10.5 XL

Posted By Barry Clarke

Tom,
I no longer have the XL's, but I remember that I measured them at 2.4. Just for info, the new XW's are suppose to be the same width as the XL's

Anyone Getting A Scope For Xmas?

Posted By Barry Clarke

Three years ago my wife bought me a FS-128 to replace my FS-102. "GREAT". Since then I have talked about a M250/300 to replace the FS-128. (I can only have one because she does not want me to be spoiled)I just found out that she has been saving for for over two years. For some reason I do not think that it is this year because I do not see any 60 pound presents under the tree.

I wonder if he has a unlisted phone number? I bet the odds are that he does not because it cost money. So what is the big deal regarding your phone number on Astromart?

Pentax Discontinued!!

Posted By Barry Clarke

Maybe you are thinking of the Pentax XL's that are discontinued and are replaced by the XW's. I just bought my first three Pentax XW's from Anacortes. If you can accept the price, they are an incredible eyepiece.

Re: Issue may have been resolved!

I think I would be looking into other coverage through differenct insurance carriers. I have State Farm. My wifes car was a hit and run a few years ago. It was covered by comprehensive which I carry a zero deductable.

Selling question

Posted By Barry Clarke

Using USPS might be a little more money to ship, but in my opinion it is worth it. If you want a scare, read the threads regarding UPS and you will run for cover.

How do other AM users post their ads?

Posted By Barry Clarke

Why I do not respond to "WANTED" is the times that I have, the person tried to beat me up on price. I suspect that many were flippers. Even if I see an item wanted and I am going to list it that day, I feel the person can contact me and buy it as advertised. Of the items that I have sold, they must have been priced correctly, because most everything has sold within a day or two at the price advertised.
Best regards,
Barry
