Is there anything that the left claimed to be a conspiracy theory regarding Twitter...

No, actually I'll just point out that you are as dumb as James is.

I responded directly and challenged you almost immediately to your 1st use.

See my reply #136, where I addressed your assertion.

And then you stated this:

Not that it matters

Apparently it appears that it does matter very much to you, since you keep mentioning it desperately in order to try and win an argument.

I guess the thought of you being proved wrong once again is too much of a burden for that huge ego of yours to bear?

This was my last paragraph to you in response #136, well before James chimed in.

"Lastly, these leftists here are the furthest thing from my soul mates.  I think you might want to look in a mirror and see who the soul mate of the left is.  He'll be staring right back at you".

Now, when that egg stops dripping and I can correct you again, you let me know, OK counselor?

LOL   smile
Follow the thread Rich, you will see that the lines from me to you to James' reply is very clear and documented by your own use of the quote function.    It is very clear when you were replying to my first use of soul mates and when you were replying to my second use of soul mates.  The words soul mate do appear to trigger you!

Precisely, this is when I clarified in my reply: "soul mates in the "opposites attract" fashion.  Think Carville and Matalin."  Then you replied "And your ridiculous analogy about Soul Mates has to be one of the most comical remarks I've heard in some time."  (That particular reply could have been to my first or my second post).  In reply, I mocked you with, "I'm confused, so you are saying that you and Rod are not opposites?"  (he he, good one, if I do say so myself) Then you replied, "Now in your definition soulmates are "Opposites"?  Interesting."

We were tracking each other nicely you see, and you were obviously replying to the clarified second usage of soul mates.

Then, and only then did James get involved.  "Jim doesn't need my defense, but he clearly said, "you are soulmates in the opposites attract fashion."

You can gas light all you want, but the record is there in your use of the quote function.  Bored yet?

Then again, it doesn't really seem anyone here likes to respond to posts about actual politics that is happening today. Rod and I post stuff all the time about breaking news/current events in DC, but I guess most here don't really care, which is odd as it is a politics forum.
Yes, I glanced at your thread about the McCarthy's speaker votes and wondered if you were glued to C-Span!  It takes time to contribute something substantive to a real thread.  I didn't have time today.   So, speaking for myself only, I would not say that I don't care.  I would say that I often lack the time to get up to speed enough to post something intelligent.

It must be hilarious for you guys to see the GOP thrash about, I get that.  (Trust me I get the joke).  But on the serious side, how would you like to see this nearly unprecedented fiasco end?  Seems to me, based upon a bit of reading, not a ton, that the most likely outcome is a more conservative Speaker, who satisfies enough of the "freedom caucus."  Bummer outcome, I think.  Alternatively, maybe a moderate R could pick up some D votes.  So far no one has budged in that direction.  What do you all see happening?  What outcome is best for the country?

Good luck with your ego, it has to be something to be that maniacal.   LOL  smile
Precisely, #136 was your reply to my first use of the phrase soul mates, as I noted above.  The conversation evolved from there.  See above.  No worries though, you win this round through attrition.  I can't make it any clearer.  J

The problem is that neither side can make concessions without them being career-ending.
Hi James:

I think this is likely to be true, but how then is the impasse resolved?  The Constitution mandates a speaker.  Since I think concessions to the Ds are implausible, the path forward probably involves giving the freedom caucus something they want.  So, look for bigger and more pointless investigations coming your way soon.

Even though I don't think Congress should waste its time on made for TV show trials,  I would love to see a legit prosecutor quietly and professionally look into Hunter's business dealings.  Maybe one is?  Hunter is at least a grifter of the highest order and possibly a criminal influence peddler.  I'd be happy to have similar prosecutors looking into the Trump children too.  The whole concept of presidential family members enriching themselves  is odious.  This sort of graft is commonplace in local politics too (of course.) Has been since the beginning of time I suppose.  Jim

They should nominate Richard Davis.

Wiki seems conflicted on this possibility:

"The Constitution does not require the speaker to be an incumbent member of the House of Representatives, however under Rule 1 Clause 8 of Manual Sec 26 of the House of Representatives, stipulates. "the Speaker pro tempore must be a Member of the House"

So, maybe?

Dave
Beats me Dave, but if Rich were made speaker, we would at least be confident knowing that his decisions were always, without doubt, 100% correct!  J

Only the 9th?  I had no idea.  They must have a lot more contentious speaker fights over 100 years ago.  Probably during the Civil War era...

In other news, Lauren Boebert, from Rifle COLORADO, performed her first class-act in demanding and achieving the removal of the metal detectors in the house of representatives so its now open season for the public:
“When I arrived in Congress two years, Nancy Pelosi put this hunk of garbage outside of the House chambers for members of Congress to go through,” Boebert said, as the metal detectors were removed behind her. “Today, they are being removed and we are turning Pelosi’s House back into the people’s House.”

I read the public still goes through metal detectors.  Even Boebert is not that insane.   The detectors removed were in the members only entrance, and there was some bipartisan support for their removal.
