Davis comes on here, calls me a few names, makes an accusation, and disappears. Typical of the troll.

Trump delivered a speech Wednesday night at the RNC's Midterm Convention in Dallas, pledging to issue $5,000 dividends if GOP candidates secure majorities in both the House and Senate.

How's that for a long title, Davis?

https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/trumps-5000-dividend-proposal-could-add-1-2t-federal-deficit-analysts-say

"Because of our tremendous strength and success economically, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000," Trump told the crowd, adding that the dividend would have to be spent in the U.S."

"An analysis by the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) estimated that issuing a $5,000 dividend to every adult citizen in the U.S. in 2027 would cost over $1.2 trillion, which the budget watchdog warned would be far more than all three of the COVID-era stimulus payments combined, as well as the 2027 cost of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

CRFB found the cost of the $5,000 dividend would more than double the federal government's primary budget deficit for next year, rising from $780 billion to $2 trillion, with the total projected deficit to $3.1 trillion. That would also push the deficit as a share of the economy from 5.8% of GDP this year to 9.4% in 2027."

I'm still waiting for my DOGE check and Tariff refund check. If you all think this is going to happen I have a brand new bridge to Canada here in Detroit to sell you.

Besides, isn't it illegal to buy votes?

Trump is not a Republican!

Did he say that he would pay all adults to vote for him?  Oh wait, he did NOT.

He said "if the Republicans win both houses of Congress, then he (the gov't) would pay every adult in the US $5K.

It appears I'm missing the bribery portion of the statement.

If a politician said to the masses "If the Demo-rats win both the house and the Senate, we will lower taxes on all Americans by 5%" is that a bribe?  Yes or no please.

Now, I realize that the above Might appear to be a trick question, since the Demo-rats will NEVER Lower taxes on the American but will only RAISE taxes, because they are socialists/communists who hate capitalism.  Understand that is not a trick question but a valid one.

And to sum up, of course there was NO bribe at all in any sense of the word, but feel free to explain your confusion.

Thanks Pete and enjoy the weekend.
If Trump is serious about doing it, and of course congress won't go along with it, how is raising the deficit by over 1 billion dollars a republican thing? I thought you "conservatives" thought the huge deficit was bad. Trump is NOT a republican.

But, of course, this is just another distraction from the Epstein files that he promised he would release in full, along with the war in the middle east that he promised he wouldn't ever start, and the record high fuel and grocery prices that he promised he would control, and ending the Ukraine war on day one as he promised.

You are a sheep that blindly follows the orange buffoon.

If you had a pair, I'd simply challenge you to "defend" the lies of your little buddies here, however since your past responses are an indicator of your inability to debate any subject, political or otherwise, I will just assume you are too much of an intellectual lightweight to engage.  Then again, such is the nature of intellectual cowards like yourself.

Having stated the facts above, let me just posit that aside from another pathetic attempt at a drive by insult, and before you wriggle back to the dog crap that sustains maggots like you, would you care to take a shot at answering how Donald Trump's political promise/statement is a "Bribe"?

I doubt you will because like all leftist losers, the best you can muster is to run away and hide under your desk as you invariably do when challenged.

It certainly isn't surprising that your intellectual vacuousness is driving your anger and irritation.

Now you can feel free to wriggle away like a leftist worm.  smile
You have a lot of gall to suggest Jim's post was a "pathetic attempt at a drive by insult".

Rich Davis struts around like the Shakespeare of smack talk, but his insults land with all the force of a damp crouton in a duel of baguettes. He struts around like a rejected Monty Python philosopher—thinks he’s the clever one in the sketch, but he’s actually the backing coconut sound effect. He is the sort of butt sniffer who’d bring a clipboard to the job, file a report on bouquet and texture, and still somehow get it wrong. grin

Well played, Russ.

Rich Davis hurls insults like a damp sponge in a tornado—technically in motion, but utterly incapable of leaving a mark. BTW, I stand by all of my insults directed at Davis. If I was channeling DJT I'd say he is out here doing playground insults like a third-rate bully who got held back in recess—twice. People tell me his comebacks are so weak, even “I know you are but what am I?” filed a defamation suit.

Well, I'll post about it.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/trump-attacks-supreme-court-justices-he-picked-for-rejecting-his-push-to-restrict-mail-ballots

"Justices Sam Alito and Clarence Thomas publicly dissented from the order, and Trump on Tuesday called them "legends both." Trump has nominated three of the justices on the Supreme Court — Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh.

"These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court, they are merely a shell of their original selves," Trump said. He asserted that the court "is costing the United States Trillions of Dollars with shockingly bad rulings that are of such magnitude that it won't be easily possible for our Country to recover or heal."

So Trump interviewed them and not nominated them? I guess among his many faults he's also not the best interviewer for prospective job applicants. LOL

"This  little  example of pedantic gamesmanship is instructive, because I don’t think Trump‘s statements would ever be prosecuted as criminal bribery. On the other hand, it is clear to everyone with half a brain that Trump was trying to buy votes. I’m not as fussed about it as some since I think all politicians do this. For example, Biden was trying to buy votes when he canceled student debt. Trump was trying to buy votes when he passed the big beautiful Bill. Biden was trying to buy votes when he passed the inflation reduction act, and so on and so on and so on."  Post #24

"1. In my opinion, Trump would not be convicted of criminal bribery, because his offer to buy votes with government money was vague enough to be characterized in court as a routine “political promise” that he has no intention and no means to keep.  He carefully did not offer his own money for votes.  He offered my money, Rod’s money, and so on.  Maybe even yours.  (Do you pay taxes?).  There is enough ambiguity in his speech that I’m sure he would weasel out of actual criminal charges.

2.  In my opinion, Trump’s offer as made in his speech was a shameful heavy-handed lie, poorly conceived to buy votes.  It is an embarrassment and proves for the umpteenth time that he lacks any integrity. "  Post #31
Not a bad observation for a bookkeeper. wink

I've been saying for years that Rich is a "special kind of weird." LOL. So weird that sometimes I think he's not real and is actually someone playing games with us using A.I. to come up with the responses in his long winded insult laden screeds. Of course, he's probably real and is just a weird little man who gets his jollies by being an asshole.

I saw that during a football game yesterday. Is that even legal? Not that Trump or this current group of republicans care about legalities. Imagine in Biden or Obama did that, they'd definitely be calling a foul.
