President secretly accepts anti-secrecy award. Kafkaesque indeed.

“I don’t feel moved today to say ‘thank you, Mr. President,’” said Steve Aftergood, the director of the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists. But he said he understands the award to be “aspirational,” in recognition of Obama’s potential to do more on the transparency front.

“And in that sense, one could say it resembles the award at the Nobel Peace Prize,” Aftergood said. “It’s not because Obama brought peace to anyone but because people hoped he would be a force for good in the world, and maybe that’s the way to understand this award.”

USA leftists do not care much for religious fanatics in pickup trucks, often characterizing the tea party as gun-toting religious fanatics in pickup trucks.

But paradoxically, look at the TV Libyan war footage. The rebels backed by Obama and his apologists are gun-toting religious fanatics in pickup trucks!

That is good.

Was thinking the other day that two of his favorite phrases are:

"Make no mistake"

"Let me be clear"

I don't recall those phrases very common parlance before BHO, but now all the talking heads and politicos of both parties have picked it up, peppering their drivel with "Let me be clear" and "Make no mistake."

Of course classics like "Yes We Can", "I Never Said It Was Gonna Be Easy", and "It's Not About Me" are all-time Obama hits, but he's not using those so much nowadays.

What are some of the other common Obamaisms?

Government Shutdown?

Wahoo! A New Firearm!

Congrats! Henry's are really nice. Good to hear of Walmart selling them.

Saw a "youth model" Henry .22 at a store that was a very compact rifle. 16" barrel and short stock. Just holding it at the store, the pull didn't seem so short that an adult couldn't shoot it comfortably. It was just a basic blue model, less than $200, but the action felt just as smooth as the more expensive models.

Bearcat replacement recommendation needed

The Easiest Incumbent to Beat since 1980

I hope he's that easy to beat.

Most likely BHO's biggest asset-- He was the candidate most obviously not Bush (though in practice he has continued Bush's mistakes and then doubled-down going the wrong direction away from whatever Bush MAY have got somewhat correct).

However, it took 8 years for people to get completely sick of Bush. They may have been sick enough of Bush after only 4 years if the Democrats had fielded a halfway realistic alternative in 2004.

If the republicans can field a non-toxic candidate, and if enough true believers have already got tired of the messiah, then maybe we can be rid of BHO in 2012. Otherwise the true believers will only get really fed-up by 2013 and beyond, and by 2016 you won't be able to find a soul who will ever admit voting for the man.
