Is Reagan in a speedo anything like Trump is his golfing pants? I'll pass on both. LOL.
I think that the world has settled on calling Trump's supporters "MAGA" Republicans.  I think that works as well as anything.  It is interesting how language evolves and adapts, where a political slogan becomes the most recognizable acronym on earth and represents a movement that is loved by 30% and despised by 70% (I hope).

Bummer.  Probably worth as much as a Roger Maris rookie card!

For once I agree with Richard.  Russ, you definitely have exposed yourself as a principled conservative.

I am glad that DeSantis and Pence skipped this year, and I am disappointed that Haley showed.   I think it is justified in that she is trying to find a lane and wants the MAGA nut to support her if Trump flames out.  But that seems to be a high risk move on her part.  Of course, her candidacy is an extremely unlikely long shot, so high risk moves are politically justified, I suppose.

I read that too.  I wonder if Haley regrets attending?  She is in a tough spot trying to get traction and it is probably hopeless, So she might have taken a swing for the fence and whiffed, biggly.

Unless she is really angling for a spot as Trump's running mate, as some have suggested.  I hope she has more integrity than that.

We need a really strong charactered and principled conservative to emerge from the ashes to save us, like a Lindsey Graham (speaking of speedo's) grin
The political re-boot you are looking for will take some time.  And as DJT said in his speech, the US will be an unrecognizable, third world, commie, failed nation if Trump does not win this go-round....

Will Lindsay Graham be around in 6 years?  That is the earliest we can hope for.  I'm ready to vote for Biden against Trump again in '24.  I think I saw that Biden had cancer removed recently.  He is so damn old.  I hope he makes it, or flames out quick because if he flames out late we might get DJT redux.

A feeble attempt at re-writing history...

I have faith that most citizens are smart enough to know that the many dozens of people convicted of crimes because of January 6 were in fact committing crimes, no matter what Tucker Carlson says.  J

p.s. I just googled Tucker Carlson's viewership numbers.  It looks like 3.5 million.  I've literally never watched him and would not know him if I met him.  I also googled the total vote for DJT in 2020 - 75 million!

I read in a CNN editorial today that Carlson is allegedly the "the de facto king maker of the GOP" and that "McCarthy, like the rest of his flock in Congress, knows that Carlson is the real boss inside the Republican Party."

That could be true I suppose, but I think it is hyperbole, given that on average Carlson reaches less than 5% of the Trump voters and a far lesser percentage of the non-Trump voting Rs.  Heck, some percentage of Carlson's audience are hard-core Ds who are conflict junkies who just live to get spun up!

But I digress - CNN is acting like Carlson is running the show.  I would agree that he is influencing the far right base, and that might have outsized influence given our primary system.  But running the show?  Perhaps CNN overestimates both their own and Fox's influence.  Jim
