Yes, it is happening, and in fact some Judges and lawyers on the Democrat side of the aisle have written about it, and stated their disdain about it.

They are violating their 5th and 6th amendment rights over in DC.

Just because you buy in to the left's bullshit and prove yourself as being pretty damned UNinformed about many things occurring with the DC courts, doesn't mean it isn't happening.

And because you recite your stock bullshit with conviction as you have above doesn't mean you have a clue about what is going on there.

Do you trust NPR?  Here is their story about the conditions of the jail in DC and the violation of the civil rights of Jan 6th defendants.

https://www.npr.org/2021/10/13/1045696978/judge-holds-washington-d-c-jail-officials-in-contempt-in-a-jan-6-riot-case

DC jail officials were held in contempt by a DC judge.

But according to you, Captain arrogance who makes blanket statements above claiming "It simply is not happening", NPR must be lying.
I read both your articles.  Just to set the stage, you said:

"Since you apparently know something about this and some of the people in Jail right now, who are awaiting trial on charges they've not been informed of, do you think they are receiving Due Process?"

I replied:

"I do not believe that anyone is being held in solitary years later without an arraignment.  That would be a grievous breach of due process.  It simply is not happening.  Your sources are making that BS up.  I can't believe you are buying it."

I added the emphasis to highlight what we were talking about.  Seems pretty clear to me.  Your articles do not suggest that anyone is being held in jail "on charges they've not been informed of" (your words) or "without an arraignment"  (my words, our words mean the same thing).  I don't want to insult you too much, but an arraignment is the formal proceeding where the defendant is informed of the charges against them.  So, you failed.  The articles do not support your point.

The articles do suggest that the conditions in some jails are sub-standard and that some defendants are being mistreated as they await trial.  That is wrong, and in some instances, according to the articles, it is being addressed.  Hopefully it is being rectified now.  I am not in favor of mistreating defendants waiting for trial.

Since you are so uninformed as usual I will reiterate I left the Repub party formally when that lying sleaze Paul Ryan was in charge in the House.

I have no allegiance to either party.  I am registered as an Independent, and shall remain that way for the foreseeable future.

I can count on both hands and both feet the number of men and women in both the House and Senate whom I respect and whom I think are doing good.

So your assertion above which I placed in bold really has no basis in fact.

But that's ok.  I'm for liberty and a gov't staying out of my life as much as possible.

Any time that the Senate and the House are in session means that I and every other American are losing more of our liberties.  And it is DAILY when they are in session.

I can state this fact with certainty, that you are a man so filled with TDS it clouds your common sense and judgement.

That's your prerogative, and it sure makes no difference to me.   smile
Ok, I imagine you do complain about the Republicans too, occasionally.  In your own honest assessment, do you think you post more often on this forum ragging on Republicans or Democrats?

Well Rich, I read that.  Poor Billy.  No shaves or toenail clippings?  This is about as plausible as your original point of them being held without charges.  Ha Ha.  I notice that you have backed off that pile of BS you laid down earlier.

Anyway, if you or anyone else is interested in seeing just how gullible Richard is, here is the real deal.  William "Billy" Chrestman's indictment:  https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/case-multi-defendant/file/1371356/download

And the original magistrates order granting pre-trail release:   https://casetext.com/case/united-states-v-chrestman-1

And the District Court's order granting the governments motion for review of the release order (Denying Billy pre-trial release)  https://casetext.com/case/united-states-v-chrestman-2

Anyone can read this stuff and form their opinion about the merits of poor Proud Boy Billy Chrestman's plight.  Or maybe you would rather get your facts from The Gateway Pundit?  Ha Ha, Joke's on Rich.

I would say that Billy's problems are the result of his own criminal activity, but hey, maybe he has been targeted by an "activist judge."  Snort.

FWIW, most of his Proud Boy Buddies, several also listed on the indictment, have had fairly minor sentences imposed after a plea deal.  They must be better people than Billy, or at least smarter.   https://www.kcur.org/news/2023-01-06/kansas-residents-charged-jan-6-2021-insurrection-names

I never stated that so why did you lie and add that embellishment in?

If you have to make up stuff then you really are reaching.

I'll stand by the facts that currently there are about 100 people waiting for a court date, languishing in DC jails, many of which have been sitting in there for over 1 year.

Is there anything else that you care to make up about what I said counselor or is that all you have? smile
Wow, this is incredible, even for you.  Are you OK?

There is a big difference between bias and propaganda.
Hi Russ:

I'm the one who has tried, ineffectively to stake out that position.  James Lacey had the last word, and I respect his opinion a lot.   Still, you know as well as everyone else here that CNN, MSNBC etc. are motivated by money too.  All of the cable news outlets have staked out a lane on the bias continuum, and they only seem to draw regular listeners/viewers from that lane.  This is a problem with the media in the digital age.

And Rachel Maddow is a hard nosed journalist?  I know I'm moving the goalposts.  MSNBC is not CNN.  You won on the CNN v. Fox debate.  But still, a lot of cable news personalities are nothing more than actors.  I would say partisans or activists, not actors, because I think they believe the BS they lay down.  But you know what I mean.

Incidentally, as I've mentioned, I rarely watch cable news on TV.  Only for special events like elections.  I do listen to the BBC, CNN and Fox Headline news in their Sirius Radio incarnations when we commute back and forth to the mountains.   CNN is terrible, they just broadcast the audio from their TV show personalities (Wolf Blitzer usually) and it is naked political bias with little or no content.  BBC is great for in depth coverage of Ukraine, and world news.  Fox headline news has no-name radio voices doing fairly legit, headline level business and news summaries.  FWIW even my lefty wife prefers Fox to CNN on Sirius Satellite Radio.   Probably because it is produced to be a headline news radio show, rather than just audio from a biased personality's TV show.

In case you were wondering, I've not heard Tucker Carlson or other big name personalities on Sirius, just their stable of no-name radio voices.

Is there anything else, or would you like to move on, and address the idea that the gov't is having fits and tantrums that the truth will get out which is that the Jan 6th committee was a one sided political game and that they withheld exculpatory evidence which appears may clear at least one individual (and I'm guessing many more defendants) who is being called the Q Anon Shaman.

Care to comment on that counselor and what appears to have been criminal activity by the gov't prosecutors to railroad a bunch of non-violent Jan 6th individuals?

What do you think of your Federal DOJ doing that, keeping evidence from Defense attys of Jan 6 defendants?
All I can say Rich, is if the government withheld evidence, the defense lawyers will probably get it now, and their clients will walk, and those responsible (if they actively withheld exculpatory evidence) will lose their jobs.  Our system is good at correcting prosecutorial misconduct.

Is it perfect?  Far from it!  Consider that thousands of blacks were illegally jailed or even executed in the last century because of corrupt prosecutors.  This goes on today still.  But I believe this is not a rampant problem in the federal courts.  Time will tell if you are right.  Jim

Defense attorneys have had ample time to bring up any malfeasance in front of a judge. Not seeing any traction there, have you?...
No, I have not, but I have not watched as closely as you.   I am not saying there has been wholesale prosecutorial misconduct like Rich is.  I am saying that if there were (or was) it will come to light under the intense scruitiny of everything related to Jan 6.  It is not like this is some hick judge and some hick prosecutors who are railroading someone in Maybury.
