Paul, excellent UV detail! I can even see a hint of cloud contrast in the IR image. I have a chance tonight for Venus again this time in average seeing, just have to sneak out of work early and clear my hard drive. Thanks for posting

Attached is the UV only Venus image showing decent cloud contrast. Before I packed it in I attached the Schuler UV filter to my 8.8mm eyepiece and observed Venus. Visually it showed up as a very dim purple crescent. Definitely only good for imaging.

Here's a redo of Venus using different weighting factors: L=UV, R=R, G=G+UV/2, B=UV. I may try mixing in 1/2 UV with each RGB channel next

Dan, beautiful shot! Capturing any moon transit on Saturn is rare. Getting near perfect seeing and imaging a shadow on any moon smaller than Titan is even more remarkable. Good luck catching another transit! I am debating whether to go out in 2/5 seeing tonight and torturing myself again...

Comet Lupin, 2/25/09

I screen shot two 30s images taken 43min apart, this comet is really moving. Motion is visible after only 30sec at a 1400mm focal length. Next time out I will use my manual bulb cable and hold it for longer time. It's nice to have a comet to image when the Saturn seeing is bad, at least you come back with something besides frozen fingers...

PS: Lupin is a professor from Harry Potter not the Lulin comet in the sky...

Saturn 3/5/09 RRGB Good Seeing

Still waiting for a clear night, so I reworked my previous data. This time 1500frames of each channel stacked, then resized 150%, and LRGB combined. I'm hoping to capture at this image size using a 2.25" extension tube and my 1.8x barlow, assuming I can get at least 3/5 seeing again.
