However, I'm very sure that I never claimed that Rod would have your back when push came to shove.

How do I know that?

For one thing that isn't the way I talk.  I've never in my life used the terminology in describing anyone "he will have your back when push comes to shove", but hey counselor you're free to make up what satisfies you and supports your delusions.

Not only that, I can say with complete assuredness that I never have said about anyone (even people for whom I do have respect) that I "admire their backbone and style".

I just don't use those words.  If you are going to simply create language, try using language and words that I would say rather than what you would say.

Is there any other fantasies or creations that you care to submit today??  If not I'm heading out for the day.    smile

Speaking of Polls

Speaking of polls, a Marist poll the other day said 61% of Republicans do not want to see Donald Trump re-elected. I looked for the original survey but can't find it, only references to it in news articles.
This is very plausible.  My guess is that genuine Trump supporters are somewhere in the 30-40% range of R voters, contrary to the way-too-early polls Rod has posted.  I don't think Pete Buttigieg is seasoned enough to win, and he has not done anything as secretary of transportation to raise his profile.  Whitmer v. Haley would be a good match.  Two hard-nosed governors.  They both strike me as serious people capable of taking on a serious job.

Of course Trump is leading now.  Name recognition.  A rabid base.  Also, it takes time for the challengers to build momentum.  This is one point of this thread and my comments yesterday!  Biden is 100% leading the D nomination race now.   No challengers whatsoever.  Yet a majority of Ds want someone else.  I think they will get someone else, but things have to happen first, like Biden stepping aside.

Did you look at the Gallup poll I posted yesterday from November 2007?  HRC was crushing that race.  Any thoughts?  That 2007 poll is very relevant to the state of the R race in 2023.

I read that you had - I think it was just yesterday!  The Onion article reminds me of the MTV show from way back - Celebrity Deathmatch.  Do you remember it?

No indictments yet, but recent Marist polls show that 3 in 4 Americans believe Trump did something wrong, and a majority think the investigations are fair.

To be entirely clear, I think the investigations are fair and I think crimes were committed.  I do not have a lot of confidence that any prosecutions would be successful in a political circus atmosphere.  I am very worried that any unsuccessful prosecution feeds into the world view of Trump and his fans and make him that much stronger.

I loved celebrity deathmatch!  I'm a huge fan of stop-motion animation. Busta Rhymes vs. William Shakespeare, anyone? LOL

Have you ever seen Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast? That was laugh out loud funny.
That was Space Ghost as a talk show host right?  Very funny!

In fact Cruz said that Donald Trump paid 10x LESS than what Hilary Clinton paid, and in the same state that Donald Trump is accused of his "crime".

And you just are wrong about your statement above that I placed in Bold.

2 Former HEADS of the Federal Election Commission have stated publicly that what Donald Trump did and is no crime under any Federal Election Law.  It is not a crime.

If you think it is a crime, provide the statute for the crime you claim he committed, because you haven't the vaguest Idea of what you are talking about.
Dumb line Richard.  The statutes (charges) are set out in the indictment which is sealed until the arraignment.  Then we all will know what statutes NY is prosecuting.  Until then, all anyone can do is guess.

Just drove back to the mountains from DIA - so quite a bit of news on Sirius.  I listened to Fox Headline, CNN, NPR's A-1 show, and the BBC.   John Dean was on CNN, he thought it would be a "document heavy" case that might be easy to prove.  He is just speculating of course.  But he assumes Bragg has a smoking gun, perhaps an email from Trump to his lawyer saying "pay the B_____ off, and make sure you hide it in the books so that no one ever knows..."  Pure speculation on his part.

We'll know soon enough if the prosecution has any merit.

My worst nightmare is that the prosecution does have a flimsy case.  A lot of foreign heads of state are worried about that too, according to the BBC.  Jim

p.s.  My actual worst nightmare is nuclear war, and according to the BBC and NPR, China has announced plans to quadruple their nuclear arsenal by 2034.  Our CNN and Fox missed that story.  A lot of news about Taiwan's visit too.  China is unhappy.  But China is apparently not giving Putin what he wants either, so that is good.  Also much discussion on NPR about Netanyahu's attempt to castrate the Israeli court system.  A naked power grab.  Rod, what do your sources think?  Apparently Bibi stepped back from the brink, but the issue is still there.  All kinds of other important news out today, but you would not know it today, listening to CNN or Fox.

When did you begin your tenure at Harvard?
It sounds like you are opposed to a trial?  Seriously?

Congratulations to you, as you got what you wished for.

As Mark Levin just came on the radio and said "we are now in a frightening period in our country".

This is grave and it will just get worse.

Go have a party and celebrate.  The United States justice system is in total collapse and has become completely political.

And this is what happens when Democrat Socialists/Communists have complete control.

We are now no better than the Stalinist Soviet Union of Yore.

Banana Republic stuff.  sad
No, a totalitarian state is where Trump is jailed without a trial at the whim of his political enemies.  In this instance, he will get a trial to attempt to exonerate himself.  The trial will be in front of a jury.  Trump is being afforded all opportunity to defend himself.   This is what a free republic with a healthy judiciary looks like.
