Many, many reasons... and everyone it is gonna have their own...
I'd say, in my case, I've downsized the refractor (I do not own a reflector, but an SCT and a refractor) in the search for higher portability and wider fields of view... 8)

I believe you should be able to achieve focus if you find a way to move you primary mirror a bit closer... maybe a better idea than to fiddle-faddle with your tube & focuser assembly... (which would be more intrusive on your optical path) - food for thought... 8)
