Editing/Incomplete Classified Ads

I placed an ad for a Celestron C-11 some weeks ago. However, only the photo and the name appear in the ad. There is nothing about price, history, condition which I had originally entered.
Any suggestions or help?

DS

I just looked at your ad..... I see all those things you mentioned you cant. Unless you have already discovered the issue and fixed it, it almost sounds as if you may not be logged in. Of course you couldn't have posted this message if that were the case. You might try logging out and clearing your cookies and then logging back in.....

8" f/15 under construction.....

Tonight we got 1st light with the 8" F/16 build.....and I do mean LIGHT lol. No baffles yet and no black paint in the tube. Lots of reflections but it works.....and comes to focus with the right range of travel on the focuser. I was expecting the Losmandy GM200 mount to complain about such a long scope but was rock steady when focusing. However shortly after dark the wind started getting pretty breezy.....it DIDNT like that LOL.

Have to make an pier extension for the big Losmandy tripod. We put a pair of 8" concrete blocks under each leg for an extra 16" in height and could have used another 6" or so.....

That's a StellarVue 80ED hanging off the side for a finder......

Sony to Discontinue all CCD Sensors in March 2017

I guess this shouldn't come as a huge surprise considering people have been saying CCD is dead for awhile. I wonder which CMOS chips are good for deep sky?

and, so what? Please explain which astronomical CCD camera uses Sony CCD chips other than for entry level imaging and guiding? Pretty much everything I know about uses ON-KAF or e2V CCD chips. If you want to use CMOS chips for imaging, it has been going on pretty successfully for years. Ever heard of Canon EOS DSLR cameras? Nikon has some good ones too and while I have never looked into them, I think they may have started with the "D3100" series. Amazingly enough, so does Sony. Who would have thought?

Whats up with the "bull in a china shop" tone there Mr Keppler?.....You have one to many "p"'s in your name to grant you the license you would get to come off that way if the Kepler Telescope were named after you lol

Re-machining a 16" Mirror

This is a multi-part question about compromises.
I have a 16" parabolic mirror - 3" thick pyrex - roughly 132" FL - it needs re-coated but seems OK.

Calculating the mount for such a mirror, it is clear that it will deform significantly even with a very complicated arrangement of support.

Has anyone tried "re-machining" a mirror like this into more of a truncated conical back? I calculate that I could remove more than 12 lbs off of the 45 lb mirror but am not sure what that would do to the shape of the front.

In theory, it would be easier to mount and would cool faster?

Mark

I don't have the knowledge to say if it could be done without having to redo the front also but both in theory and practice it would definitely be easier to mount and also cool a LOT faster at 2" or less thick as compared to 3"....of that I am certain.

8" f/15 under construction.....

Cut the 5 baffles last night on a mill with a boring bar. We stacked and bolted them together and cut the OD to size.

We then proceeded to cut the ID to a knife edge starting with the largest 1st while still bolted together. 1st two are cut here.....

Stacked in the orientation they will be when viewed from the front of the scope.

The knife edges turned out great....they are actually close to razor sharp. Dangerously so.

I decided to build it using a 8x36" .064 tube from Hastings Irrigation with rolled ends.
