Covid-19 data and graphs

In regards to Texas, it appears the spikes we've been seeing there are in line with the expectation of their medical association:
https://www.kxan.com/news/coronavirus/texas-medical-association-president-expects-covid-19-cases-to-increase-in-coming-days/
In other words, I don't believe CNN has somehow misconstrued and misreported what's happened there but it seems the statician you've quoted has gone thru some numerical gymnastics to "explain" how and why he thinks what's happening in Texas and reported by CNN is all about how CNN got it wrong. Sheesh!

In view of the last two week's data, I am skeptical of any current stories focusing on an alleged "spike" in Texas.

At least we aren't seeing Gov. Kemp "Human Sacrifice" stories any more.

I'll have to look at graph for Texas at the end of the day, the only current reporting being:

Blaming Trump on his response to Covid and the resulting effects on the economy is precisely what will determine the outcome of the election. That's why we see Trump deflecting away from it in any manner he can, ie backing conspiracy theories, pushing his pills, blaming the CDC and so on...

I hadn't heard about the 2 million plus figure so I don't know where that one comes from but the WH's max was around 240,000. So what if we lead the world in overall cases and deaths per country. It's only 93,000 now and there's plenty of Americans left where they came from so WTF, Trump's administration is doing a bang-up job and Trump says so!

Follow up:
"In Texas, as more businesses get the green light to reopen, those plans have been delayed in some areas where the governor says jump in positive COVID-19 cases follow ramped-up testing capacity."

"Think of the number — potentially 2.2 million people if we did nothing if we didn't do the distancing, if we didn't do all of the things that we're doing," Trump said Sunday. -- Donald J. Trump, May 29th, 2020
"I honestly don't understand why this is so hard to understand." The Lincoln project has a nice take on it:

It reminds of Pence stopping in at a fast food burger joint yesterday. No masks among his entourage except for the reporters. Pence proceeds to fill his cup at the public soda dispenser as the doctors on CNN stare in disbelief. You can't even do that at McDonalds anymore; it's corporate policy. You want a refill? A worker behind a counter  in a mask and gloves will get you one. I honestly don't understand why this so hard to understand....
