That is a nice color combination. Good amount of time on them too.

Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Perseus in Canon P & S digi

That is nice - REALLY wide. You can see both M31 and the double easily, and I suspect that other things would show up if I knew just where to look. If you had moved at bit "up" I am sure M33 would be there too.

I would only wonder about the 2.8 to know if the stars are still round. My experience with "regular" (Canon) lenses is that stopping down wouldn't hurt. I have done some shots with a point and shoot, but never tried combining/post-processing anything. May be something to do now that it is dark so much.

focus reducers

Posted By Charles Hakes

My experience with focal reducers is that it would depend on your scope and CCD combination. If your chip is not that large, then you will be staying near the center of your scopes "sweet spot" and you likely would not notice any problems, just a wider field of view. If your chip is larger, then you might notice some star flair or other effects. The moon would be a large/challenging target for my camera.

Thanks for the comments all. I have played with some de-convolution, but with mixed success. In this particular case I will blame most of the problem on seeing. This is also a real "stretch" to my processing abilities, as all of the central detail is WAY brighter than anything in the background.

NGC281 Tri-Color Narrow Band

Nice, Floyd. Looks like that scope is working great for you. I also like the palette variety, and yes, that sure sounds like a lot of time! Will there be regular RGB on this target too? I'll bet it wouldn't take nearly that long to add star colors.

NGC1333/VDB17

You are right - there sure is a lot of stuff going on around there. I don't see any gradients, or other various "nightmares," so you did a good job with the processing. Looks nice.
