Peter, that's an excellent Jupiter! I hope you don't mind that I modified your image a bit. First, stretched it to brighten, then set the black point to the background, followed by a couple of Lucy Richardson deconvolutions. There is a ton of detail in your image, nice work

John, Excellent image! Congradulations on capturing this rare multi-moon event. There seems to be a ton of detail in your image. Couldn't resist post-processing it with Registax, sharpening 3-5 wavelets 5.2,7.8,8.3 hope you don't mind. Nice work

Jupiter f30 9/1/09, 4/5 Seeing

I reprocessed my 9/1 data using a 150% resize and an alignment to the cloud features, not to the limb as recommended by Mike Salway. The last step resized it back to normal. The final image is slightly better, but the blue / red channels are a bit misaligned at the edges. This can be fixed in photoshop, but I have not had much luck. I also tried multi point alignment in Registax but ended up with gaps. The 128 box with the center of gravity box checked seemed to do the best alignment.

Kevin, a good image, but you really need at least 4/5 seeing to get a decent Jupiter at these low 30deg altitudes. Timing your avi collection around the peak height will also help. I stopped trying to image Jupiter in marginal seeing. Keep an eye on the clear sky clock and good luck catching good conditions

Jason, excellent Jupiter! With your setup, you may be able to capture a longer video, maybe 90s or 2min? How does Jupiter look through the TMB eyepiece? My lowest is an 8.8mm Meade and I always wondered how low you can go and still get a decent view

Stefan, excellent work! Do you know of a good avistack tutorial? I've never had success with that program. I just picked up some reading glasses myself last weekend so I am hoping they will improve my focusing. Of course having good seeing like yours would be nice.

Mars August 30

Paul, excellent shot! Could the brighter circular spot in the middle be Olympus Mons? Mars is incredibly bright in the AM sky but still a small disk.
