Mars July 10, 2005

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Seeing was really decent on that morning (July 10). I feel like I am getting closer with the Lumenera, just need to work on colour. I have several suggestions to try. The detail is there though.

BTW...Wes, thanks for the lead on the Codec. I have it installed and it works great!! It's really nice to cut a 900meg file down to 25megs and have lossless compression.

Mars July 11, 2005

Hi all,

Mars from July 11, 2005. My location has not allowed me to use much more than F/22 on the C925 so far, so I guess Mars will have to grow for much really good detail for now.

Hi all,

As Mars gets larger, it's getting easier to image detail. I remember when 10" was considered the amateur Mars' imager starting point. Looking at some of the images I have seen so far, I think much smaller is the starting point. Notice the notched SPC in the red image. All shot with the Toucam.

Hi all,

Finally got finished processing the July 15 images. I processed each of my 12 Avi's 2-4 times trying to get out detail as I can. All in all not too bad. Hellas is quiet in the July 15 image, but it looks like it's getting active lately.

Hi all,

Mars shot on July 16 under poor conditions. At least the Lumenera camera allowed me to get 5000 frames and I found 500 good enough frames. Seeing has been worse since as we are in our thunderstorm season.

Opinion on Mars images please...

Here are two images, both from the same Seq file, post-processed a little differently. Just out of curiousity, which do you all think looks better?

Posted By Paul Maxson

Just coming onto the face of the sun. I have two more days worth, but it has been cloudy and rainy all day today. Hope other's have better luck than me. It was one year ago tomorrow I got my Baader solar filter and it's still going strong. smile

Hi all,

The second day the group 792 was visible...seeing was a bit better despite clouds and a storm later.

If you can stand another sunspot image...here is AR 792 taken on July 30, 2005. It's been cloudy since.
