No again, we're all waiting on Trump. He has the answers...

Jim,
I wouldn't consider contact tracing or staged reopenings and other recommendations to be political platitudes; they're constructs of a plan. Not that it matters now that our president has proclaimed his "total authority" in determining when and how the country reopens...

I'd like to see the legal briefs that Trump said he'd produce to the media when he was asked by a CNN reporter, "Who told you that you have that absolute power?" She pressed Trump on it several times. I'm sure you'd like to see them, too.

There's a world of difference between an executive order and Trump claiming he has absolute power. You and Darian don't get that and probably never will...
Now, back to reality, here's Cuomo and Trump going at it, big time!

He only made an Entire thread about it.

I called him on it, I don't recall you making any commentary about it at the time, and nice way to dodge my questions by truncating them as usual, so I'll ask again:

When did you EVER call out Barack Obama for his rampant abuses of power, being shot down by the Supreme Court several times, 9-0 for his GRAND EDICTS?

Did you ever?  I don't recall it.

And here's where I show you what you missed. this posting, big bold letters: Trump Still Refuses to Issue NATIONAL STAY AT HOME ORDER:

https://astromart.com/forums/commentary-careful-read-the-terms-of-service/politics/trump-still-refuses-to-issue-national-stay-at-home-order?page=1

Rod initiated that post, so Yes, He BE that IG'NANT.

I beat you to the punch, when I called him out and told him "the Pres. doesn't have that power".

You're a little late to the party.

I, Greg, and Mel have already done the work for you.
From the link that I included in that post:
"What President Trump could do is send a much clearer signal that he wants all governors to do a lockdown on their states, to guide them about what that lockdown would require and what the standard should be,"...
That's a far cry from claiming the president has absolute power to do so and again, an executive order, which I noted in my posts at the time, would have been a reasonable and expected manner of execution and one that could have been challenged in the courts if it came to that.

I responded:

Where in the Constitution does it say that any President can order the closing of the Country?  Apparently you didn't bother to read my response to you.

What power does the President have to issue an order like you stated in your first posting?  Do you even UNDERSTAND how a Republic works??

Do you think Governors work for the President?  Here, try it, you might like it:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/index.html

READ it.  LEARN it.  LIVE it.

Rod came back w/ this:

The authority for interstate quarantine under the Public Health Service Act comes from that period, Price says. "Congress debated what to do about this, and they decided the federal government should have interstate quarantine authority," she says. The latter occurred from an outbreak of yellow fever at the time. Trump ought issue the order under the aforementioned act. I doubt the morons who call themselves governors in the states that have thus far refused to issue stay at home orders would oppose it..

You're free to parse words all you want.

My point was that you berate him for NOT shutting down the gov't, then you call Him a Dictator/Authoritarian IF he opened it up.

As usual talking out of both sides of your ass..
I noted two ways Trump could intercede at the state level: An executive order or by claiming authority to do so under the Public Health Service Act. Perhaps the latter will be in the so-called "legal briefs" he supposedly has as he claimed in his rant yesterday. Either way, neither gives him the absolute authority that he claims he has. Those are two entirely different concepts that you obviously fail to grasp...

Trump Still Refuses To Issue National Stay At Home Order

What the ---- is he waiting for?

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/490666-trump-resists-pressure-to-declare-nationwide-stay-at-home-order

Apparently you fail to grasp my point.
I never said he had the absolute authority to either open or close or shut down a government of a state. A stay at home order does not shut down a state government as you've claimed in your above post. Whether or not he has the absolute authority to reopen the economy of a state by telling a governor when and how to do it is basically addressed in the 10th amendment of the constitution...

Your response STILL does not change the fact that you call him a jackass for NOT shutting the gov't down, then you immediately say he's a tyrant if he gives an order TO open it up.

My God you are a buffoon.  Are you SURE you aren't related to Joe Biden??

Who do you think is coordinating/implementing/tracking procedures for COVID19 in your state? Trump? What, you don't think the state government is functioning? People in state government aren't working from their homes? You can't dealt with the fact that Trump emphatically states he has absolute authority and I never said he did...
