Nice and sharp Jeff. I have a new computer with resolution of 1280X768 and that makes it even better.
I'm curious...are most people still viewing photos at 800X600 on their computer monitors? Now that I have two different monitors working at radically different resolutions, I'm wondering what most people are using. Seems that 800X600 might be better for editing photos because even bad images look good at higher screen resolutions. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Are web pages still optimized for 800X600? -Kurt Horsley

These finders are common at gun shows. They were originally designed as rifle scopes, but work superbly as finders. Quality is extremely high, price is usually around $30. One drawback is the weight. They are very heavy compared to typical 1X finders, which are usually made of plastic. -Kurt Horsley

You can always try a drop of "lock tight" to see if it's going to work. As I recall, that particular gear had a hex screw to adjust tightness and keep the gear from spinning on the shaft. If not, I think your best bet will be sending it back to Celestron. I suspect they will repair it free of charge. They have done a lot of free work for me on scopes well over 10 years old and have never asked for payment. For the sake of reliability, I suggest sending it back for service. Celestron service is superb, and they do what they say they will. Good luck, -Kurt Horsley
