Machholz from CT with my 300D

Hi all,

Weather has not cooperated lately here in CT. Just had to give the comet a try smile So here's my contribution.

Seeing was poor. Trans was poor. I also see movement in the core. I'll try a stack of less images next.

Orion 80mmED piggybacked on a 10"LX200
Canon 300D
9 images of 2min each dark subtracted.
Processed with Images Plus.

Machholz nucleus alignment ..Images Plus

Hello all,

Here is a last attempt to improve on my Machholz image from last week. I used the nucleus as the alignment point in an attempt to improve on the detail in the comets tail. This was taken on 1/11 which was after passing the "7 Sisters" . Sure wish I was able to try when the tail appeared to be more intact.

Digital Rebel, Orion 80ED
Stack of 9 converted RAWs @iso400 2min.
Dark frame of 4 averaged and subtracted.
Aligned and Median combined.

Hello all,

Living close to the shore in CT. Excellent seeing conditions are rare for planets. In fact, I was beginning to think my "Clear Sky Alarm Clock" link was in need of repair again. I hadn't received an email from that site in over a month.....until yesterday smile . To make things more difficult. I own an f6.3 wide field version of the LX200 10" SCT. Great scope for DS objects but a challenge on planets.

Tuesday night was a rare night of stable air in CT. I was able to use my 2" 4x Powermate (purchased at last years NEAF grin )

Here's the info:
LX200 10" f6.3 working at f25
Televue 2" 4X Powermate
ToUcam pro 740 webcam
20%gain 50% saturation 50% gamma
Best 1222 frames of 2330 at 10fps
Processed with Registax V2

Solving the "ringing" problem with processing

Hello all,

Any suggestions on removing/preventing the ringing on the planets outer edges? I did not think my image was over processed...is it?

20D laptop connection......Help

Hi all,
Please don't be offended by this possibly off topic question BUT..........

I've been the proud owner of a new 20D for a few weeks now smile. Having owned a 300D I have been using a cable purchased from Hap for focusing via serial port and the cameras USB cable. You know the routine.......DSLR Focus yada..yada..yada.

Well...now what . I purchased a (cheapa) China remote (ADIDT M1) off __bay for the plug and will now attempt to splice in a three conductor 3.5mm M/F jack in line. Question is......is this all I need beside upgrading DSLR ???

What are you using???

ST4 stay...or should it go????

Hi all,

I haven't posted here in a while. The weather has been very poor here in CT. Consequently, I have not been able to try my new 20D since upgrading from the 300D.

Which leads me to the question :S My ST4/ Tau (Ceti)? combo has doing nothing. I am thinking of posting if for sale and using Guide Dog and my TouCam Pro for guiding OR maybe purchasing a used 201 guider 8O .

Any thoughts?

I've been so excited to try my 20D. The weather has been very uncooperative. It's the best I've been able to produce under the circumstances. Thanks for dealing with my impatience and OT image :S

Hi all,
Fist time posting an image in this forum. I just received my new 300mmf4L IS so I thought I'd give it a try on this fella. Shot with a 20D ,1.4x teleconverter and the 300 IS. in mode 1. I was using the central focus zone. Think I need to switch to full next time.

Your thoughts?
