C/2001 Q4 Neat from May 11

Due to travelling a little late, but here it is:

Some changes are to confirm, less pronounced dust tail, more
pronounced blueish ion tail, nice bow waves can be observed.

Venus 3rd and 4th contact and diamond ring

I am late, but I had to go through a lot of webcam images to put together an
animation that shows as much as possible from the Venus-Sun interaction.

Each frame of the animation is processed from 200 raw frames with 1 min
interval between the frames, so in total 5400 frames had to be processed.

The last frame is done with approx 10 times the exposure time compared to
the others to catch the dim diamond ring.

IC1318 color added

One of my favorite areas is the one around gamma-Cygni.
Now I could add color to my H-alpha image and it gets a new touch, see image below.

Ultimate M31

This project over several night resulted in 7 hours of total exposure,it shows the performance of the SBIG STL11k, this is not a mosaic!
The attachment is big but still reduced to 50% size.

Careful processing brought out the dim dust lanes close to the center.

NGC 6188

M42 and M43 close-up

First light for the STL and the secondary focus of the 16" cassegrain
at f/10.

I have chosen this target, as the seeing was good, but the transparency very bad, so I decided to go for a "bright" object. Raw
FMHW was 2" and I took very short exposures for the center to avoid too much saturation in the stars for keeping them tight.
I was surprised about the relatively low distortions in the outer areas, no field corrector used.


Processing took quite a while, tried to preserve the right color balance, but increased saturation. Blending of the inner and outer areas was done carefully with several layers.
No deconvolution, only unsharp masking in different steps.

I was lucky with the seeing this week, so I tried on this very low but fascinating object from my 47 N location.
The 16" in f/3 primary focus together with the STL11000 helped to get the necessary deepness, see data and bigger images at:

Cygnus Wall and the Gulf

The first time I had a chance to aim my fast instrument to the NGC7000 area. Could not take more than one hour of exposure, but I was surprised about the deepness of the 2 raws of each 30 min.

Explore the "ground" of the gulf!
