FS152 Omega Centauri

Posted By Greg Bradley

The surprising thing is that these shots are taken under adverse conditions, 3/4 moon, surburban backyard.

FS152, modded D70, 8 x 20 secs.

Looking forward to doing some shots at a dark site.

Greg.

FS152 Lagoon Nebula

Posted By Greg Bradley

I spent about 2 hours drift aligning last night and it paid off (after adjusting one axis the wrong way at first!).

FS152 with Tak F6 focal reducer (better and less vignetting than the Celestron F6.3), MI 250 mount, modded D70,Baader UV/IR block filter total of 12 shots, 30, 45 and a couple of 60 second shots, nearly full moon, in my observatory in Sydney.

Images Plus, Nikon Capture Editor.

FS152 and Eta Carina

Posted By Greg Bradley

Still trying to get that ultimate image of Eta Carina. This is the next loveliest neb in the sky after M42.

Here are 2 last night under nearly full moon, suburban skies.

FS152, MI250 mount, unguided, mostly 30 sec exposures, some 45 sec in the 2nd shot and a couple of 60 secs. Modified D70, ISO 1600, Mode 3 (turn off after the shot whilst camera doing noise reduction, this stops a built in filtering process in the Nikon Camera from damaging the fainter stars). Images Plus and Nikon Capture editor.

This one 12 x 30 secs. The one to follow is more like 25 x 45 and 4 x 60.

FS152 and Omega Centauri

This is better.

Despite a full moon. FS152, MI250 mount, 30 x 30, 45 and 60 seconds, Modded Nikon D70, mode 3, Baader UV/IR block, Images Plus, Nikon Capture Editor. ISO 1600.

The FS152 is an amazing scope.

Milky Way Widefield 180mm ED lens

Posted By Greg Bradley

Took this image last night at my dark site.
2/3rds moon, very clear conditions, 700 metres altitude (about 2200 feet), Nikon D70 modified no filter, Nikon 180mm ED Lens.

4 x 30 seconds.

The nebula is Eta Carina, the open cluster is Caldwell 091 and the bright stars on the upper right are the Southern Cross.

It came out better than I expected given how bright the moon was.

Centaurus A

11 x 45 seconds. Rapidly took this after dark before the mooon came up. Beautiful clear skies at a dark site that would knock your socks off.

Modded D70, Baader UV/IR block filter, mode 3 exposures (turn off power after exposure with noise reduction on, it interrupts it before it applies a software filter and gives a better RAW file).

Images Plus, Nikon Capture Editor. Nexstar 11 GPS. To get this any better I am going to need to autoguide.

Trifid Nebula

19 x 45 and 60 seconds (mostly 60secs), unguided, Tak FS152, MI 250 mount, Nikon D70 modified, Baader UV/IR filter, Nikon Capture Editor, Images Plus for stacking and some processing.

Last night, 1/3rd dull moon, nice clear night in my backyard in Sydney. About 13-14 degrees Celsius (55F).
