Star Trails #2

Posted By Todd Leen

Hi Wei-Hao,

I like this! I've been thinking aobut
a 35mm lens for my 645 and your images
inspire me to purchase one. Please try
some of this at quarter moon (or crescent)
too and post them here!

Regards
Todd

Milky Way - Lagoon Nebula

Brian,

Nice job!
That looks like a *real* nice lens. Point
it at the North America/Penguine complex
(or Gamma Cygni) and let us see the results!

Cheers

Anyone using Fuji Astia, Provia, Sensia here?

Posted By Todd Leen

Jeff,

Fuji Provia 400 and Kodak E-200 are the top
astro color (slide) films out there. I think
E-200 has an edge for red stuff, but my experience
with Provia 400 is quite limited.

Cheers

First Shots-- Need Some Advice

Posted By Todd Leen

Wow - good start! You can up the contrast
a bit with levels and curves, but as said earlier
don't go too far.

It's hard to tell without the
full-size scan, but I thought I detected some
elongation of the stars in the lower corners. If
so, you may need to close the lens down another 1/2
to 1 stop. From a dark site, you should be able
to go 30-60 minutes on Elite Chrome 200. (If the
temperature drops below 32F, the film may become
up to twice as sensitive I'm told.)

If you're shooting at a dark sky site, I'd bet
your 20min shot looks pretty good. Could you
post it?

These are EXCELLENT results for early in the game.
