Mars October 8, 2005

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

Seeing was not good for this image and the clouds rolled in so I only got two sets of Avi's. I did the best I could to process this image.

Preliminary Mars from Oct 20, 2005

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I shot this in the morning here under decent seeing conditions. It is only a very preliminary image but it sure shows how the dust storm has progressed.

More images that I hope are better in the next few days.

Hubble, the moon and Wes...

Posted By Paul Maxson

Well, you knew it would happen....NASA musta seen Wes' excellent image of the Aristarchus Crater in LPOD last year and went ahead and pointed Hubble at it to see if they can beat it (see News). I guess they win by a nose.....$800,000,000 HST vs $20,000 HLT.

At least it took HST to knock Wes off the top step. LOL!!!!!!!!!

Saturn Oct 14, 2005

Hi all,

Here is an image I shot of saturn past October 14. Seeing was marginal and breezy. I'm not sure why the image is a bit dark, I did adjust gamma and brightness after processing.

Mars October 22 Preliminary image

Hi all,

The dust storm has almost all but covered Solis Lacus. Seeing not what I wanted, but it did improve. Better (I hope) images soon. Shot with 25cm F/48 Lumenera camera.

Hi all,

Here is finally an image of Mars I made on October 20, 2005 showing the dust storm nicely. Been fighting some physical problems, but hopefully the worst is behind me....

Prelim image from Oct 28

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

In light of the images Clay and Joel posted, here is a preliminary image I made from one of 6 avi's I caught this morning. The others may be better, not sure yet. At least this shows the disturbance well. It was shot through high thin clouds, but shooting at 30fps sure makes a difference!!

I plan to post other images by the first part of next week.
